The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hopefully there won't be any surprises when they thaw, like a cracked pipe.

As Cap said, not the smartest plan. They KNOW it needs to be done and you just KNOW that Murphy will make sure a major line will break during the busiest time of the year leaving you closed due to lack of water.

Oh well, they were warned about the situation ahead of time :idunno

:hit They have a 'cutest baby fowl' Easter contest but I can't enter because I'm not in the US. I don't need a prize - I just like sharing! :hit

Anyway, at least you guys don't mind clucking over my little cuties. :hugs

It's lovely and cool here this morning which made cleaning out the aviary a pleasant job. We are putting in some thicker perches so that poor Stumpy and Chippy (the Java finches with very few toes) can go out there, as well as the two other Javas I hand reared a little while ago, Sparrow and Freckles. One is still very friendly and wants to come out and sit on me whenever I go near their cage, so it will be nice to be able to interact with them in the aviary where they are safe.

Glad to hear you finally got a break in the hot weather J.

Your babies are adorable, you should post photos in the contest just so all the other baby birds can see what they're up against in the looks department!

I am sorry about that! Most of the contests have alternate prizes but his is a special one from a corporate sponsor.

Lots of other contests that allow for BYC store credit and etc. as alternate prizes

Speaking of pictures.... Did your son paint any of your birds while you were away? Did he do a good job looking after everyone?

He did paint me a couple of pictures...one he found on the BYC calendar and the other he got out of Storey's book of chicken breeds. I need to take photos of them and share. He's still here (will be until Sunday) and is now working on a painting for DH's birthday which is tomorrow.

He did a good job of taking care of the cats, the chickens and the house. It was really nice to know he was here to look after everything. I think he spoiled the cats something fierce though because they seem to have forgotten they are not allowed on the dining room table when we eat. Whoops!
