The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I can see why it's Ken's favourite Blooie. It's gorgeous. I'll have to see if I can find someone playing one on YouTube so I can hear what they sound like.

My ringneck doves have snuck two eggs past me - they are nesting in a food bowl. I usually remove the eggs before they start developing (or they've been infertile up until now) but they look to be around 5 days along so I don't have the heart to take them.
Just google R. Carlos Nakai and Peter Kater, oh heck, here's a link to Canyon Trilogy, great CD.

Their the foremost native flute artist!

(even though it means my living room is gone!)
Didn't consider that when you decided to adopt a moose sized dog did you?

Found a really good kennel only 50 miles from here in Cody
ONLY 50 miles? :thSure hope you go through Cody every time you need to leave town for a couple of days.

Definitely a moose. :lau

I usually say horse but I think this is bigger than a horse.

And exactly my thoughts! 50 miles is very far to me but it just goes to show you how sparse Wyoming's population is compared to here? And how much people treat dogs like babies here and in California lol around here there are a million pet related businesses all over. Dog daycares, boarding kennels and in home boarders, dog walkers, dog trainers, groomers, vets, big box pet stores, specialty/boutique pet shops (including a bunch that carry the more expensive or hard to find foods), etc. They're EVERYWHERE here. So having to go 50 miles to find one is shocking to me. But then again there's also a million other stores around here cause this area is a lot more dense than out there

Nope, Cody is a trip onto itself. It's not "on the way" to anyplace we go, well, except for Yellowstone Park.

Thanks for posting the video!

Yep, I knew when we got a moose puppy there'd be some space issues. I'm okay with that if it keeps her and my house safe. She's not in the crate very much, and it collapses if we need to move it. Good thing, because set up it's not getting through a single doorway in here! Teehee

That stinks it's not on the way but hopefully it won't be necessary too much? And Yellowstone maybe she can go with you. :D

And that's good the crate is collapsable!

I don't think we necessarily have a small house by any means but I still don't think we could fit a crate anywhere in here. Maybe the dining room if we took the table out or possibly the basement or spare bedroom. Those crates for giant dogs sure are... well... GIANT. Lol our house was also built in the 70s though so it's all broken up, maybe with an open floor there'd be more room but then the floor wouldn't be open.

Also completely unrelated but I'm torn between a retriever (Lab or Golden most likely) or English Shepherd for my next dog. Lots of people say their ES was/is the best dog they've ever had but I'm worried about how they are with other dogs. Some seem fine and friendly with them but I've also read ES are rule followers and enforcers and herding breeds in particular have a very different play style than retrievers and other breeds so I'm worried that either the ES would be too aggressive OR that they might just annoy other dogs and the other dogs wouldn't like it. I think I've also read though that even among ES they can vary. Like that some are just tattle tales and come find the owner and try to tell you a dog or kod or chicken or whatever is breaking the rules and others are enforcers and enforce it themselves.

So that's the only thing holding me back.

But I feel like Labs and Goldens are so generic. Idk.

I am a dog lover since birth but, when people cheer that their dog saved their life from fire or whatever, I see it differently. A dog or cat upset by something, comes to their owner so they will be taken care of. Owner interpretes this "I came to save YOU."

It's wonderful and often life saving that the animal alerts to danger.

Might be having a pow wow or a "stomp dance".
The pow wow is next month.
I went last year. Sat for over 6 hours straight just watching the dancing and the drumming. It's the one time I wish I was male (and indigenous for that matter). I would love to be a drummer and singer.
They are having a music festival at the end of the month. Hopefully I'll be able to get there. If not, I may be able to hear it from here. :)
