The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Today's tournament for the high school kids went very well, good attendance, all had fun, they ate every bit of buffet I prepared and they want to repeat this next year!

Gotta tell you, the one thing that surprised me most today? When they were done eating, every single person, young & old, picked the dirty cups and paper plates off the tables and threw them in the trash. Why surprising? Because that has never happened before at one of these luncheons, there's always some mess to clean up. You just can't beat small farm town people! :D
They return the shopping carts to the corrals too.

I always return carts too and try and catch the loose ones headed for trouble. Most of the people I see folks sorta walk the cart back to the store and then give it a good push- it hits the curb and bounces into someone's car. The pretend not to notice.
People around here don't even bother doing that much. They just make sure that it's clear of their car and leave it wherever.

Back when I delivered trucks for a living, I had a great small town experience that NFC's tournament reminds me of.

We had just crossed the Oregon/ Nevada border. It was dark and we were hungry. The first "town" we come across consisted of the obligatory casino, a community hall and a convenience store. We went into the store to see what we could find. This woman said to us "if you're looking for something to eat, come next door to the community hall. We're having a potluck." So we head over. The ranchers in the area had all come together to have a potluck to raise funds for the junior high kids to go on a trip to DC. We get in there and people start bustling around, making up plates for us and treating us like royalty. Such wonderful people and an absolutely amazing sense of community. One of the best experiences I've had.

Totally off topic, but then I usually am. THIS is the secret to Kendra’s success. She always want to do it herself, sometimes with unintended consequences, but I can guarantee that tomorrow she’ll try again and keep trying until she masters that door! Try to catch the giggle as she realizes that she finally got it unlatched, but then BOOM!

Her persistence is something to admire! Most kids would have given up.
Loved that giggle when she finally figured it out! :clap

My pheasants molted very early this year. Some started in mid June. Their almost through molting now and usually this is about the time they start! Go figure. But your right about the protein, Bob...they will get through their molt faster and in better condition on a higher protein feed. Omega 3 acids are of a great benefit in producing better feather quality.

Where I lived in FL, the grocery store didn't have cart corrals. I asked a store employee about that once and he said putting carts away created a job for people that might not otherwise have one.

Love that Michelle!
