The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Thanks Sean! I used to switch my avatar frequently but guess I've gotten lazy (or busy, depending on the day ). Time to get back to re-freshing it more often.
Yeah, I tried that once, I got too much negative feedback, so just decided to leave it alone on my first one.

I like the one you have...such a striking looking bird!

What are you doing up at this crazy hour anyway? (It's 2am here)
I was going to ask you the same thing! :lau
It's 3:09a.m. here, it's because I'm use to working nights but lately I've been asleep at this time due to the fact, if I go to sleep, so does the pain!;) I'm not in that much pain right now so just trying to catch up on what I've missed.

Glad you aren't up because of pain. I just plain woke up...not unusual (I have no trouble falling asleep but staying asleep is another matter). Not much going on around here this time of night but you're right, it's a good time to catch up.

Yep, that's me lately, been waking up due to the pain but at the same time going to sleep because of it too! :lau just really has my schedule outta wack! Right now it's around an 8, if it goes above 10 then I really feel it but at 8, I just ignore it.

An 8 is bad enough, but a ten? Yikes! Are you taking anything for the pain?
No, ran out of the Tramadol. Didn't give me a refill. I really don't need any, I don't like to take drugs, I could call the doc and request a refill, if I was in say pain level 15, I definitely would, that's even too much for me.
I've dealt with pain levels around 8 most of my life, (all the time) due to other broken bones and other injuries substained years ago.
When I broke my leg in a motorcycle accident I had 9 years ago, all my riding buddies couldn't believe I wasn't screaming, complaining about the pain. I just quietly laid in the ditch, waiting on the ambulance to get there:lau and in actuality, I really wasn't in pain. They were all telling everyone that "he's the toughest dude we have ever seen" :gig.... it's all a mind control thing, don't let it control you!

Terrific video @Blooie I sure admire Kendra's tenacity!
X’s 2 Blooie! Love the avatar Debby!
Today's tournament for the high school kids went very well, good attendance, all had fun, they ate every bit of buffet I prepared and they want to repeat this next year!

Gotta tell you, the one thing that surprised me most today? When they were done eating, every single person, young & old, picked the dirty cups and paper plates off the tables and threw them in the trash. Why surprising? Because that has never happened before at one of these luncheons, there's always some mess to clean up. You just can't beat small farm town people! :D
Awesome! I agree on the small farm town people:)
Back when I delivered trucks for a living, I had a great small town experience that NFC's tournament reminds me of.

We had just crossed the Oregon/ Nevada border. It was dark and we were hungry. The first "town" we come across consisted of the obligatory casino, a community hall and a convenience store. We went into the store to see what we could find. This woman said to us "if you're looking for something to eat, come next door to the community hall. We're having a potluck." So we head over. The ranchers in the area had all come together to have a potluck to raise funds for the junior high kids to go on a trip to DC. We get in there and people start bustling around, making up plates for us and treating us like royalty. Such wonderful people and an absolutely amazing sense of community. One of the best experiences I've had.
Awesome story!
