The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

:eek:wow, i guess you were lucky in the sense you didn't have to have the hip replacement, if thats not what you wanted but man, you must have been flying pretty good to do that damage, how did they find you, were you able to get yourself back to the house or did the neighbor see you?
ok, i admit, the hot water helped and after finding out how it happened, i'm awake for awhile longer:D
After laying on the ground next to the pen for a few minutes....seemed like an hour but it wasn't, I raised myself up and walked back to the house. Decided I needed to go get it x-rayed...i knew it was broken but didn't have any idea how bad but figured if i could walk on it, it couldn't be that bad. Anyway, got to a urgent care facility and their tech wasn't there, so went back home and returned the next morning. They x-rayed it but weren't sure it was broken. They sent me over to the non-emergency room at the hospital, it was just across the street.
They did a CAT scan and it was broke.
The emergency room doc's wanted to do a full hip replacement, right there and now. They started all the paperwork before even telling me it was broken or anything.
They couldn't believe I wasn't in any pain, and I told them they/ I couldn't possibly go into surgery today...told them I have animals that I have to make arrangements to be taken care of before the surgery could be performed. They really thought I was "nuts", even sent a shrink into counsel me. :gig
So to make this long story short, a week and a half passed before I finally got admitted to the hospital and had the surgery.
I wish I hadn't had it now, it most likely would have healed on it's own. The doc scared me into believing that the ball could fall off the neck of the femur, so I agreed to the surgery. Phew! I've typed more here than the whole time I've knowd ya!:lau

I get a day off but we need to stay inside
Which is torture! Sure, if you have things you want to do inside and plan to do them, that is different because you CHOSE to not do the outside things. ;)

we may not be able to go snowbirding for awhile
not good news for husbands heart, have to go to a specialist, heart beat is really slow:hit(not for leaving but because he could have a heart attack and i could lose him) that scares me to death
 Oh my. Yes the snowbirding can wait!

it was the splitter had to be totally level, think we might have bought a piece of junk
That is pretty sad. Who has a totally level spot to split wood? And what happens to it if it is stored not perfectly level.

Cant believe I’ve got signal! A whole 2 and a half bars!
Yeah but do you have the slightest idea where you are?

but whatever it takes he will do it if i have my way
You are "she who must be obeyed". Tell him so

It is actually worse--The map won't stop animating today. Currently woodland is in the purple at 282. 300 goes to hazardous.
Ewwwwwwwwww!!! I have no idea what the pollution index was when I was growing up in So. Cal but there were plenty of days we couldn't go out for recess. And the 3 flights of steps up into the dorm in 1974 took a good 20 minutes each trip, needed to recover the burning lungs.

...not enough to cause mudslides, though.
Sadly they are almost a given in the Ventura area. Everything with roots that hold the soil is burned to a crisp. Next time it rains, things start moving. Been happening forever. But people still build on the side of a hill because THE VIEW!

Had thought about saving some for my son who will be coming soon. BUT, it's not my first rodeo so I woman-ed up
You are a very strong woman DD! Would have been difficult to keep that up if it were staring you in the face every time you open the freezer.

It fractured the ball of the femur at the base of the neck of the femur but didn't fall off to either side of the neck. It stayed on top of the neck, (impacted) which sounds bad but better than if it had fallen off to the side.
Sounds similar to when DD2 broke her arm in a fall. Shoved the ball up into the socket and broke the humerus a couple of inches down.

No worries...if you ask, I'll tell ya, I tend to to go into too much detail but have found out if I just put it all out there the first time I don't have to repeat myself as much

what is it that everyone want to break and shove the ball in the socket, can't you just land on the soft padding on the backside?

That would be the logical thing to do but when your flying through the air, it doesn't occur to you that it would be best to land on the padding! Besides it's not the fall or flying that hurts...it's the sudden stop! :gig

Making cranberry bread, although I probably put wayyy too many cranberries in (the whole bag ) but oh well. It does say 1 1/2 cups and the bag is 12 oz but then the serving size says a serving is 1 cup and there's like 3 1/2 servings in it but I figure more cranberries can't hurt and what am I gonna do with an open half a bag of cranberries? Probably should have doubled the recipe and made 2 loaves considering there's barely any bread between all those cranberries but oh well. Also added a bit more orange peel than it said just cause I had grated a little more by accident and figured I'd just use it up. Not sure how it will taste. May be too citrusy with the orange juice and orange peel but we'll see. If it IS too citrusy then next time I might just use water. But we'll see. And I omitted the nuts. No one here really likes those.
