The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Must be something in the air, Phil. It was my turn yesterday. I didn't even like me!! You'll shake it - we'll give you the time and space you need to bounce back and keep the computers warm for you!

Good thing I WASN'T a lion (lioness?) yesterday. Blizzard or no blizzard I'd have gone down to Denver and whooped some - medical professionals. (handled that well, didn't I?)

Good news - we have a BIRTHDAY to celebrate!!

Happy 3rd birthday to our amazing little great-grandson! Landyn Kenneth is a whopping 3 years old today. He got a race car set and loved it. He played with it for a little bit, then handed his little sister a car and said, "Your turn, Mady." (Mady just turned 1 earlier this month) I told their mom, "Don't get used to it - it probably won't last!"

And last night we took Evan and Katie out for pizza while Tammy was putting Katie and Kendra's clothes and toys away - the last thing to be done on "the project". After Kenny and Kenny left for Denver, Tammy totally gutted the girls' room, painted it, and put all brand new furniture in it. Goofy daughter spent a huge chunk of her tax refund on it since she opted not to go on the cruise with Ken and me. Last year she did the same thing with Evan's room - total update - and she loved every minute of it. She's having a blast playing interior designer and looking forward to the "auntie points". Ken went over and helped her put the new stuff together, moved heavier stuff, and then he used straps and secured the dresser and the bookshelf to studs in the wall. Kendra pulls herself up on everything and we didn't want anything falling forward on her.

It's a very hard room to do anything with - two (usually 3) kids in a very small space. They had a set of over sized bunk beds in there but Evan and Katie slept on them.(Evan spends every Friday, Saturday and Sunday over there while his mom works nights.) We had put a toddler bed in for Kendra last summer and barely squeezed it in - the bunks were on one side of the room and went from the corner to just past the open doorway,(jutted into the doorway) and the toddler bed was put the opposite way but it touched the side of the bunk bed on one side and the wall on the other. There was also a toy organizer, dresser for Katie and smaller one for Kendra, and literally no floor space for walking because everything in there was intended for a much larger, "normal sized" room. If Katie or Evan sat up in the upper bunk they hit their heads on the ceiling. Room was painted green and yellow and the teddy bear curtains I made for Katie when she was born were still up. It was cute when Katie was first born and was still little but it was awful for a 10 year old and a special needs 4 year old. Kendra couldn't even play in there.. No doors on the undersized closet. Stacked sterilites in the closet - some held clothes and toys, some held Kendra's medical equipment. Total dimensions of this "palace"? How about 8.5 by 8? Our chicken coop is bigger! Yeah.

Well, it's looking fantastic, and Katie's going to love it! She hasn't seen it yet. New, compact sized bunk beds with built in drawers under it, matching dresser tucked into the closet, a little vanity table with a princess chair, a super tall bookshelf with canvas baskets to hold toys and books in one place, new curtains, and even a vase of flowers on the vanity. And it not only all fits, it actually looks huge! Everything is white with pink accents. Katie's only choice was the color. No sterelites - everything has a place! There is even a chair that folds out into a bed - Evan has one in his room for when his buddies spend the night and he loves sleeping on it. So now when he's not there for the weekend, the chair can be tucked out of the way. The "BIG REVEAL" will be Friday when the kids get home, so Katie, her folks and her baby sister can all see it at once. The transformation has been remarkable! She and Ken have had a blast doing it. I can't wait!!

Isn't 3 a bit young for a gin? I was thinking more along the lines of a cake:

x2!

Speaking of birthdays, don't we have someone else who is having a birthday tomorrow?

Hey Bert, any idea who I'm talking about?

If Berts can't remember who has a birthday tomorrow, I do!
