Morning all! Thanks for the laughs about my trip. I'll try to plan the next one better :)

One chick Chris? No hope at all for any of the other 12?
Adding more day-olds would be good, if that's an option. I guess if you don't want to raise one little by itself, can you give it away, or cull it?
 
Any time Dr. Who comes up I find myself going "Who?"...know nothing about it. But I'm ok with that.

Chris, I'd give it away if possible. I don't know that I could snuff it. DH could, but not me. Sorry about the hatch, that's disappointing.

Where's Phil? I think he has some duck eggs he was hatching. Wonder how his is going.

Time to run errands. I was outside with the girls but the wind was blowing so they didn't want to be out playing. Twits, lol.

I had to cull one just a couple of weeks ago, bum leg that I couldn't fix. Had to do it myself since hubby wasn't feeling up to it. Not fun, but a part of raising chicks.

I'M HERE SLEPT IN...yay!!....I needed it....think I'll have to keep on the prednisone a while....like our friend Rachael I'm always trying to get off it And usually I can in the summer....but it's touchy in the winter....I really need to find out what it is that sends my lungs into a tailspin.

Strangely enough, thats another thing i have to do tomorrow also -one girl that has suddenly developed a terrible limp and no external sign of injury. Guess i only have to sharpen the knife once and kill 2 birds with one stone (well, knife). I'm not squeamish, but there's no pleasure in culling for any of us (unless its a roo thats gored you a few times

- and even then its more of a relief).

Onwards and upwards - my plan for tomorrow is to try and talk a breeder into selling me white leghorn chicks that he actually has as part of his breeding programme - hope he's had a good weekend!

I lost a golden comet this weekend. Found her dead in the run, no obvious signs of anything. Sometimes we just never know with the chicks I guess. Do yours free range? The one I lost is from my only set that I let free range, so I just assume maybe she got into something.
