The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning everyone!

Just got done skimming through the past several days worth of posts to catch up with all of you :p All the gardening talk is making my hands itchy to get in some dirt but our winter is fast approaching so guess that isn't going to happen for a while.

Son and I had a great time (other than the first day when I was sick all day :hmm ). Devils Tower was amazing and worth the trip to see. We got there early Thurs. morning and took one of the hiking trails around the base (the shorter one, it was 1.5 miles). The area has a really interesting history.

We went down the road from where we stayed to Sundance, Wy that same afternoon and wandered through the Crook Co. museum for a few hours.

Friday we drove on over to Rapid City, SD and spent the day at the Reptile Gardens. Haven't been there in probably 20 years and had so much fun! What a beautiful place, the landscaping was amazing and of course, so were the animals

I have lots of photos but haven't uploaded them yet. Will get that done later today and will share a few.

Time to get more coffee, see you all soon!
:frow:frow

Here are a few shots of Devils Tower
Pretty cool formations. Looks like sedimentary rock that vaulted 90°. I wonder how long the cap rock on top will hold out so the tower will remain standing.

Glad you had a good time, thanks for the pictures and I'm glad you are now on the straight and narrow so you could come back to us :)

Good morning everyone. I bet it will be another hot Sunny day here. Yesterday when I got up at 6 the ground was damp. It was shocking. I think we had precipitation 3 times all summer. Way too dry.
we had a hard rain last night, a long with thunder and lightning but was so happy, like you, no rain for awhile

Have you caught two of everything yet, Noah?

:lau still working on that!

There were 3 frogs in this pond but I don’t know if the other two are still around. I think so but haven’t seen them lately but I haven’t really looked. The other two I think are a different species?? They’re smaller and not green. More brownish and sleek looking.

Maybe I should go back and catch some turtles and geese from the big pond too :lau

First egg from Little One aka The Colonel today. :D

Ignore all the feathers in there... the big girls are molting. :lau

Best place for you imo.:p:lau
Some good pictures in that lot Debby.
Your son should get some of those paintings turned into prints and sell them.

Thanks Shad, I appreciate your comment about my son's paintings! Now about the other comment...well, we need to talk :lau

Hi Bruce, nice to see you too! Here's a plaque from Devils Tower about the formation:

I picked up a book about it and there was a note that in about another 50 million years, it could be eroded away. Guess it's a good thing I saw it when I did!
