The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Sorry.
I have brass tacs to get down to around here.
too serious! :hit sorry.

I just made an appointment to get  braces on my teeth again.
:(
But better to have them put back to where they need to be than have them all break from hitting.
so.. grumble-grumble ...did that already, what's next? acne again? the awkward teenage years?
I never did get to rebel back then.
Too afraid of my parents.
But now. Now I can be the miserable teenager that everyone missed out on.

sniff sniff. pout. pout miserable grumble. I hate everybody... no wait. I can't do that. Maybe I did not rebel because it just wasn't in my nature.

hey! But on the upside, My son gets home from school in June, and It will be great to have my family unit together again.
We get to go to ortho appointments together. Family bonding time!:D

I'm seriously thinking about getting braces...I had perfect teeth(never had braces) until about 5 years ago. My front teeth separated for some unknown reason, I had a hard time getting floss between them , now I can get a dime in between with room to spare!!

@N F C Great photos, the green snake is awesome! Glad you had a fun day.

Blue birds raise several hatchings in a satellite pole next to my kitchen window. Yesterday one came out too, too early and could not fly. It spent the night in my veggie garden and this morning I witnessed a chipmunk KILL IT while it's mom and dad were trying to help.

There was nothing I could do to intervene

Never knew a cute chipmunk would do that?

Have y'all seen or known of a chipmunk killing a baby bird?

That's sad! I love bluebirds.

That's horrible sunflour!

I had phoebes build a nest and hatch babies on my porch light fixture last spring. A couple weeks ago, I noticed one rebuilding a nest. Held my phone above it and took a pic, one egg. Thought she would lay more through the week, but later in the week, still only one egg. Thought something must have happened to momma. Sunday I saw momma back on the nest. So I'm still waiting to see what happens.

I've heard of squirrels doing that, but not chipmunks.

I had never heard of either doing this. They are quite nuisances, but always thought they were cute and never worried about the dangers.
Thanks for info. Guess that's why we see the the larger birds chase squirrels away from the feeders.

Thanks, they are so beautiful. Just hope this doesn't make the parents abandon their nesting place :)

Thanks. We have some around here that look like Phoebes, but never saw their nests. So glad momma came back.

I have never had evil thoughts about the chipmunks - despite the damage they do to my potted plants and veggie garden - but we now have one less on our property

Cowbirds frequently parasitize Phoebe nests. Generally they just lay their egg in the nest - the cowbird has a shorter incubation so when it hatches it pushes the other eggs out. It is also possible that the cowbird may lay her egg and toss the others. I am not fond of cowbirds.

My sister gets tons of them...they reek havoc with her flower pots also.

Sunflour, sorry to hear about the chipmunk and the bluebird chick. I never would have guessed a chipmunk would do that. Hope the parents stick around and you get more babies.

DMC, your sister is very talented. I like the way you displayed her picture too!
