HI Ken, do you think your hatching is still viable after the power outage?

Just checked and I'm seeing movement in there, so I guess they made it! How it will affect their hatch is another matter. They were on day 6 when the power went AWOL - now day 9.

When the power goes off just look at it as the hen getting on off the nest to eat & drink etc.
My incubator has a cool down option that you set and it turns the heat off for an hour. This is meant to replicate the hen leaving the nest each day. Some studies have revealed this to produce better hatch rates.

Thanks, Kim. Guess we've both got Brinseas? (BTW - they have some new bators out) - just that 9 hours was a little long - but hey - there's movement, so I'm not complaining! Its comforting to know that when i set for real (this was just a trial run) I don't need to panic when the power goes off.

What I would really like is a Brinsea cabinet incubator but right now I can't warrant how much they cost.
Yeah I saw those new Brinsea incubators but I'm not sure I'm keen on the look. To me they look a bit cheap compared to others. Not sure how they work without the cradle either and I can see no humidity pump for them. I'm waiting to see what the reviews will be on them

9 hours is quite a long time so your hatch maybe delayed slightly especially if you have another outage like that.

I got the same, last time i was home so thought that i should try it out. Yep, all Brinseas are pretty expensive and the cabinet ones are serious pennies!

Guess the new ones must have a series of "cradles" for each row of eggs? - and yeah, I also noticed the lack of "conventional" pump.

It's certainly not against the odds that there will be another outage of that duration before the 21 days are done. If i do, before day 19, would you advise waiting until day 20 to increase the humidity, or just following established protocol?

Chris, maybe your little guy just needs more time to grow into his role as "donor"? Hope you get a little something or two out of your hatch. But if not this time, there's always next time.

Ok, question for you all...I keep getting a message on my laptop about "Do more with Microsoft Edge - the fast, new browser built for Windows 10". Should I change that as my default? I thought that's what I already had? I hate it when my laptop asks me questions...I never know how to answer it!

Re: your pc - I use a mac, but if you thought you were using "edge" AND you are running Windows 10, then I'd say sure - set it as your default.
