Meanwhile in Aus, someone wants in .. check out dem claws! Not so cute and cuddly now hey?

While talking Kangaroos, did you guys hear about the man who punched the Kangaroo because it had a hold of his dog? It was taken in June this year but has gone viral with lots of people annoyed that he punched the Kangaroo. I am on the side of the guy who, on the spur of the moment and probably not thinking how badly he could be injured, just wanted to save his dog. The Kangaroo was fine.

Blooie Happy birthday to Katie!

N F C That question response gave me such a chuckle.
Not sure feeding chicken liver to dogs is such a good idea; if they like it you might find lots of chickens with their livers missing

GodCilla is broken and back to sweet little Cilla; Blondzilla is proving more difficult

Teila, I never realized kangaroos had claws T H I S long! To have one attacking a window, that's kind of scary. Not sure what to think of the guy that punched one. Guess his beloved pet was in danger of being hurt? But again, yikes, those claws.

As for the liver posts...someone was objecting to feeding chickens chicken livers. She equated it to dogs eating dogs or humans eating humans. Kind of weird but eh, different strokes for different folks.

Do you use some method to break your broodies or just let nature run it's course? I only ever had 1 really stubborn broodie, an evil-tempered Australorp...she wasn't nice even during normal times. I tried a broody buster with her but as soon as I would think she was over it, she'd go right back to her even nastier puffed up self. I was really relieved when a friend wanted her and her almost-as-mean sister. I know Black Australorps have a reputation for being calm, sweet birds but those 2 never read the breed characteristics.

Hey N F C

The majority of the time I use the broody breaker .. Cilla is an old hand at it .. I reckon I can see her eyes roll as she is marched off to the crate and Dusty throws her a tiny little baseball and mitt

This time around, because I had two broodies at the same time and only one girl actually laying eggs, I opted for just locking them out of the coop as it is easy enough to let Crystal in and out again when she wants to lay.

I prefer not to let nature takes it’s course here, mainly because it is too hot for them to be sitting on a nest all day [unless they have fertile eggs and then I make sure I take extra care of them so they do not overheat] and it is right about now that mites and lice can be a problem and a stationary broody on a nest would be way too inviting. I have not tried it with Cilla but I think if I just left her broody she would probably sit there way past the 3 weeks and I would probably still end up having to break her so might as well do it early before she loses too much condition and risks her health.

Guess you can't keep a good girl down!

Aaargh! The temptation .. I just stumbled across the Chicken Liver thread and I so want to reply; even had one typed up ready to go and then changed my mind.

Sometimes it is best to sit on one’s hands and listen to that little voice in my head which is telling me I have housework and grocery shopping to do
