The trip to Casper took most the day and we finished up stopping by a member's house (Bob) to get 5 little ones. Bob has a really interesting place with all sorts of birds and he was very nice to chat with. He was so generous, I left with a family cookbook, a jar of his special honey, his one & only tomato and.....

6 little chicks!

Had only planned on getting 5 but Bob knew I was interested in the Sapphires so he tossed in a freebie. I got 2 Welsummers, 3 Legbars and the 1 Sapphire (who I promptly named Bob/Bobbi). They sang and pecked all the way home and settled nicely into their brooder (which is right next to me) and fell asleep. No pictures yet, it was dark last night and still too dark this morning. But, I'll get some today for sure.

They are soooooo stinking sweet!

I'm a little worried Debby has not posted anything this am,....hopefully she is either drooling over her new flock or stayed up all night watching and taking pics of them.
Or she wasn't able to get them yesterday?  I know that disappointment and went into a big pout.:barnie

Is today the Debby and Blooie Day??  Maybe Debby stayed up cleaning all night.

I'm pretty sure today is the day but I get messed up sometimes...Are you getting new chicks? I am at my sisters right now and will be stopping by a Runnings store close to home tomorrow to see what they have. I'm looking to get about 6 more....

I assume 6 chicks ( or six new Running Shoes

I am still hopeful to get chicks - they are getting a replacement shipment end of this month and should have plenty of Welsummers and BR's - I want 2 of each. Still have the brooder ready and keeping my fingers crossed.

I've never had these 3 breeds of chicks before, they're so sweet! They all settle right down in my hands when I pick them up, don't remember the previous chicks I had doing that. I hope the Welsummer's you get end up being as calm.

Blooie will be here shortly (around 10am) and there will definitely be pictures...of her, of chicks and who knows what else!
 
Hooray for your new chicks Debby!! So nice of Bob to give you a sapphire chick. BYC people are the best. Can't wait to see pics!

Sunflour, hope you feel better soon. Along with sav-a-chick, I also keep a bottle of Nutri-drench on hand. One drop in the beak can work wonders on an ailing chick. Good to have around.
