Sunflour, Buddy may not be the bravest cat in the world but, he is one darn good baker. How many cats can boast of that?

I'm about fit to be tied with the critters around here. We've spent the last 4 hours outside due to a fox attack. It started last night with the loss of my favorite chicken. Quinton saw a hawk land in the yard so we are assuming that was what got her. He was leaving so didn't have time to check it out. The neighbor had come over to lock the girls up shortly after and saw feathers so he texted me to let me know...so figured it was the hawk. We've been in and out all day but in about an hours time 2 more chickens were dead, 1 left in the yard and the other Quinton saw being carried off by a fox. They fought hard and I can't believe we heard nothing. 2 of my new girls are in the trees, one is in a high tree and the other I couldn't find but she was accounted for after attack. We set up the trail cam to see if there's any action out there tonight. Needless to say I told my husband to teach me to shoot a gun...I shot about 70 bullets and hit the can 16 times...never thought I would do that but this is war. I need more practice though!! Sorry for the vent![]()
I got some cute photos of our older Javas when they came out today. They are so sweet and funny. They like to rub their beak on us - it seems to be an affectionate gesture. Yesterday Stumpy told off the older ones (I still have them in separate cages) for paying me some attention - he seems to think we are his property! He tells off the others in his cage too if they think they'll get a turn giving us a beak rub.

Thanks Debby! I just let the girls out now cuz they were going stir crazy so I'm sitting in the swing by the coop to keep watch. Another attack will come. Trail cam caught a fox right out front of the coop at some point after we locked them up last night. Caught a cat in the trap this morning as we didn't get a coon so it didn't trip. Pretty sure she won't go in there again! Have you hired your new person yet? When is your son coming?Sorry for the loss DMC, what a night you had! Keep practicing with the shooting, it's good to be prepared.
Thanks Sunflour! Love those names!I am so sorry about all the loses you are dealing with - we also have raccoon, hawks, fox and occasional stray dog....that's why my flock cannot free range. Good luck in the battle.
And he's a alarm clock. Even if DH gets up before me to feed Buddy, he stays with me to get me up.
Love the pics...the hair stylist is my fav.
Like her name sake.
I have named 3 of 4.....Debby #1 gal, Violet #2 gal, Bitty #4 gal. But still waiting for #3 to give me her name selection![]()
