The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

What's her name? I've read that Maine Coons are more "dog-like" than other cats...would you say that's true?
Tyra. She isn't "dog-like" insofar as my dogs are always trying to suck up to you, she couldn't care less about anything but herself. :D She does sit up and beg which is usually thought of as a 'dog-thing'. She hisses, which none of my other cats has ever done. She talks, but anything she doesn't like, it's hiss, hiss, hiss. I'd call her "ornery", but she's also a big cuddler, she's often up next to me. You just don't want to push her off or move her or you'll get the hisssss.... :D I thought she might be a bit cranky because she was 12 when I adopted her, but looking up about Maine coons, it's how they are. I'd describe her as "vocal". She's a beautiful looking cat. Her fur is so soft and she's got huge feet.

Mmmm...breakfast this morning is homemade bread with homemade crabapple jelly. There are 2 older men that come in once a week to the golf course, we became friends last year. One of them was telling me him and his wife were making jelly from their crabapple tree and yesterday when they came in, he brought me a jar! I love these old guys, they're great!

Well, the decision was made today...Saturday will be the last day for our golf course restaurant to be open this season. Business has dropped radically the past couple of weeks. We've talked to some other restaurant owners in the area and they all say the same thing, once school starts and football begins and people start gearing up for hunting, business dies. Actually, we've done well to be busy up through the end of August.

So, it's sort of semi-sweet/sad but now I can spend my time cleaning stuff up/out in preparation for next season and won't have to wait until the course closes in October. Hey! I'll only have to work 8 hours a day!! Maybe even a bit less...not too shabby!
