So best we not proceed with the bet, but hey .... one of mine laying and for sure the others will soon, then it is a win-win situation.

Very pretty eggs!

Whew, I need a nap.
With my 2 wonderful employees today, we cleaned 2 ovens (the super colossal size), 2 smokers (including grills), a flat top, a 4-burner stove top (cast iron no less) and a grill. Our arms quit working so will have to do the humongous frier tomorrow (oh joy).
Looking at funnies on the internet was the best medicine (and celebrating Chicken Debby's lovely new very first egg)! View attachment 1162794

We are not trying to remove any trees we don't have to. We had to have an area cleared, but we had a dozer do it. Many of these trees are pine that are dead or dying. No point getting a logger involved. My husband cuts down what needs cutting in the areas where we are building. My hoop coop might need one small tree cut down when i build it. We have been working on clearing out dead wood and burning it up. The area for the goat shed is already done.Nice place!
Will you use the wood or sell it to a logger?

That is what we are trying to do by getting rid of dead wood and putting some roads through that could act as fire breaks a bit. There are some fabulous huge tulip trees that must be 100 years old. We have hickory trees, black walnuts, paw paws, and quite a lot of pine trees. Probably about 1/3 of the pines are dead. Some still standing, some leaning on other trees and some just rotting on the forest floor. We are just working on it a bit at a time. Husband has a good amount of hardwood stacked and split for winter. We will not burn pine because of the volume of creosote it puts out. Do not want a chimney fire.Very nice!
The fires here in California were much worse than normal because of the dead trees.
I have all weekends off but am usually finding something that needs to be done. Winter time gets lazy around here!!2,000 pages, my time does fly![]()
DMC - you really should take a little time off for you.
