The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

So, I just spoke to the carer and she has fallen in love with Omu also and said she wants to keep him too. As much as I did not want to, I said she should keep him as she is better suited to giving him a good home and I know that is the right thing to do. She has a beautiful, much nicer garden than we do at this stage and there are other birds for him to talk to, plus she does not have to work all day [retired] and I already have enough on my plate with the garden and working etc.

So, as she lives in the next street, we are going to 'share' him, I got to name him and can visit any time I want.

Her house has a huge opening out onto a shade covered area full of ferns etc and she has guppies and sword fish in her pond, some of which she is going to give me for our ponds when they are ready. Being a carer she has a wallaby also and quite a few birds.

So, while I have not gained a new bird and I am a little sad, I think I have gained a new friend and I am going over on Sunday afternoon for a visit, coffee and natter and of course, to see Omu.

Aww that stinks you can't keep him but she seems awesome and like he will have a good home and you a new friend :)

Happy Friday all (unless it happens to be Saturday for a couple of you, and then it's Happy Saturday)!

@CntryBoy777 I remember you, glad to have you over on this side of things! What sort of new birds are you looking to get in the spring? You can come hang out here any time you want, we mostly don't bite :D

@Teila I'm sorry you won't have Omu (AKA: Sweet Cheeks) as your own but how nice for you to have a new friend in your new hometown:thumbsup And she has fish ponds too, that will be fun for both of you. Has she met your chooks yet?

@JaeG they need to get you a new fridge. Do you want us to start a petition or have a talk with them?

@DigMyChicks what's going on in your world today? I'm about ready to re-home a cat or two...are you up for some more? Three (3!) times last night as I was trying to get to sleep Opie and Pip knocked over their waterer. It's one of those things where you fill the tank and it empties into a bowl as the water level gets low. Don't know what inspired them to play with it, they never have before, little freaks. :he I finally took it away and just left them with a bowl of water.

Good Morning.

Well, thanks for the Welcome @ JaeG ....tho, I'm an "Old Hat"...most of my time is spent on BYH, but since the change-over and propects of new birds come Spring I am back here checking things out and "Settlin In" for a spell at least. I figure I might can find a few spots to trail a "Flock" every now and then anyway....too much of me might just spoil my being Welcomed....:lau:ya

Nothing to be sad about, this is a win-win situation....Omu will be yours just living somewhere else. And a new friend with a lovely garden and birds...now that's perfect IMO.:hugs

I'm gonna get about 14 chickens, 6 ducks, 2 geese, and 15-20 guineas.....we will be putting the 11 chickens we have now in the freezer, so for them we are replacing the chickens....waiting on cooler weather to process....but gonna be a busy winter and spring getting things ready for peepers and the dos of brooding....:)

Have you had guineas before? @CapricornFarm has quite a handful with them it sounds like.

How are you going to brood the little ones? When the next time comes around, I want to try the heating pad method...I'm still cleaning up dust from the ones I traditionally brooded in April. :sick
