I don't know then. I don't recall if I joined when I started reading or when I was waiting for my first chicks to arrive in June 2012 and maybe had a question or 12.

I fear I will have baby cockatiel withdrawal once they have all grown up and gone to their new homes! They are pretty darn cute, especially when they are all pin feathers. I'm really glad we are keeping three of our babies.
Never too late to say hello, here i am!It's funny - I was just thinking that only a cockatiel could be that cute when it looks more like a porcupine than a bird. They are all adorable, and I am always glad when you post pics of your feather babies!
@NFC - It makes no sense to me, either. I lurked for months before I became a member; as you said, you can read to your heart's content without being a member. People come and go from forums all the time for so many reasons. It does seem a little odd to have been a member for ages and then suddenly decide to do an introduction . . . maybe they stumbled onto a thread that mentions the intro as part of being a "good" forum member, and feel they have been remiss?
(Which reminds me, I never did an intro thread; kinda late now, don'tcha think?)![]()
That is good news! What was that whooshing sound you just heard? Us, dodging a bullet! The mechanic has just rung and it looks like the culprit is a couple of leaking heater hoses, replacements for which are on their way up from our closest major city and should be here tomorrow lunch time along with a new radiator cap, replacement of which is apparently pretty standard. Replace the hoses, flush out the system and add some new coolant, test run and hopefully home without having to replace the radiator or water pump etc
Jae adorable babies! Well, the muppets anyway![]()
It seems odd to me too but most of them join because they have a question and after it is answered, Psst! GoneJust want to say, this has been a strange morning welcoming new members. Apparently there must be a number of people that join and then don't post for 2-5 years. Seems odd to me.
Just sayin'
I wasn't really looking for an explanation, it just struck me as odd this morning when I saw several people post intros as their very first posts when they'd already been members for years.
No 'splainin I guess...don't mind me, I'm just rambling
You get trophy points for posting an introduction. Since most of us have been on here for a long time and introduced ourselves before they had the new member format introduction forum, we do not get those points. I introduced myself on the Northern California state thread back in 2011 so it does not count. If I want those points, I would have to introduce myself again.I actually think there's a couple of things going on, but its just a guess. I see folks who've been posting forever, come over and introduce themselves while others who've been here quite a while have like three posts. But I think the new system is somehow reminding folks to introduce themselves. Again, just my guess.
What are VIP threads @ronott1
And @Bunnylady yes, I do think you should do an intro! That would probably make a few people scratch their heads![]()
