The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Doing well... Going to keep it simple this year, so not a lot going on. This evening I'll season and put the garlic herb rub on the NY Strip and put it back in the fridge. Probably going to do some green beans, mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy to go with the roast. I'll also be making a butternut squash soup.

ETA: If it get's warm enough today, I'll probably make a loaf of bread as well.

Ooh, you just mentioned 2 of my favorite things...mushroom gravy and butternut squash soup :drool

It's just the 2 of us for Thanksgiving so we're keeping it all to a minimum. But we have to make enough to have some leftovers because that's the best part of T-day dinner!

DS is making a Martha Washington stew today with one of our old toms. Turkey and Oyster stew, sounds very interesting. Assuming we can find some Oysters.

Guess you're referring to fresh oysters? My mom always had to make fresh oyster soup for my dad on Thanksgiving (none of us kids would touch it). I think she just found containers of them in the meat or deli area of their grocery store.

We use smoked canned oysters in our dressing. Which is why I have one more trip to the store today :(

I hope all have an Enjoyable day and it turns out to be a great time had by all...and those "Down Under". We don't celebrate holidays here, so no hoopla to be a part of....we are thankful every day, so it is just another day tending to and watching animals. I did get word last nite that Gabbie will be coming to us on Dec 1st. I'm sure that pics will soon follow....:)
