I got 9 eggs from my girls today...whoohoo! I just bought my 3rd carton on Monday, hopefully that will be all I have to buy!!

Egg laying should pickup now for sure.

I was lucky this year and did not have to buy egg. Since I only have 5 hens now it was close.

My Pita Pintas are winter layers so I have been getting 1 or 2 eggs a day from the three of them. One of the 2 Trader Joes hens layed after molting this winter. The other one has not started up yet.

I also have 4 pullets in the Garage that started laying so I am getting 1 or 2 blue eggs a day from them. Enough to keep me in egg!

Me too, despite my GREAT plan of getting 6 (was 7 but one was a cockerel) pullet chicks in April so I would have eggs all winter (just as I did in 2012/13 and 2015/16!), they all eventually started then all but Trill (Barnevelder) QUIT by mid December! Squeaked through the Christmas baking and the batch of eggnog on eggs laid earlier, even had to go to Sunday waffles or pancakes instead of omelettes for a couple of weeks in January. 3 of the 2017's have joined Trill on the job now as has Persephone (2012 EE) and some of the 2015 girls so I'm back in business. My two original customers (people I worked with at the time) haven't seen a decent egg (i.e. one from my girls ) since October but they are about getting some tomorrow. My old next door neighbors got 6 last week and will get 6 more tomorrow as well.

I planned ahead in the fall of 2016 and froze some eggs as a test. They carried me through the baking season but wouldn't have made usable eggnog

I have 22 layers. My oldest will be 3 in the spring so not sure how well they will lay but they are mostly what’s laying right now. My California whites are the most consistent layers and they are a last spring hatch. Only one of the 3 molted. The other 2 have layed through the winter.

Odd that the one moulted. None of my April girls moulted after their last juvenile moult, they just turned into freeloaders.

Odd that the one moulted. None of my April girls moulted after their last juvenile moult, they just turned into freeloaders.

I have 2 more molting, a black sex link which is a spring hatch and a barred rock which is one of my older girls. She looks like she’s been through a blender...the poor girl.
