The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Yeah, a lot of the lower quality foods use subpar meats. If it says something like animal fat, animal digest, poultry fat, animal meal, etc. etc., but doesn't specify what animal that is not good. It could come from roadkill, dead dying or diseased animals, even euthanized pets they claim but I dont know if I buy that one. But it can come from euthanized animals for sure since it ends up in the food. Animals destined for slaughter/food are NOT allowed to be killed by injection, for obvious reasons, but pet food companies don't follow those same rules.

I saw this article on FB last week. I think it's the same one NFC quoted.

This is why I always check the ingredients and try to buy higher quality foods

Moving snow around, and then the Princess is taking me to breakfast - pancakes at Cracker Barrel. :drool

Grandma's Pancake Breakfast is my favorite:)

repeatedly tested positive for pentobarbital

OMG!! But we have frequent recalls on human medicine for not being correct

I don't know what plant the tainted food came from

Betcha it's in China.

Ok this wind is ridiculous. I cut up an apple into quarters to take to the chickens (I put the quarters in a suet cake like feeder) and the wind blew some of the apple right off the plate. Apples should NOT blow away.

:thThat's serious wind there.

I found an article and they claimed it was from beef. I did wonder why cattle would be euthanized using that method. :hmm

Probably they were sick and the vet put them down. Then the farmer sells the meat.

Yuppp, they put a sick animal down then don't want to waste the meat. :(

Yup probably

I met Libby today. :love

I wish I had gotten a video when they took her outside. She was running around like crazy and had the zoomies and was soooo cute. But then she would go run to get a ball or do something then get distracted and lay down and start eating grass or go fimd a scent to follow lol

Also my mom seema to think she is beagle or boxer. Not so much boxer but she thinks beagle cause her head is so small. Idk but I can kinda see it. She is pretty small. Much smaller than in pictures. Her head is tiny. But she is really long in body as you can see so idk. Her paws aren't that big either. She's also not fluffy. Shouldn't she be fluffier for Pyr/Collie?? But her fur along her back/neck does stand up when she catches a scent. It's really funny lol

So she does have a little bit of fluff. But her tail is skinny and long. And they wanted to see pictures of Gator and he was wayy bigger even younger than her and his tail was thick and fluffy.

But she somewhat stalked towards the door a bit, a step or two at a time, when my dad and brother went outside so I think that's kind of a collie thing. Or maybe cautious? Idk. But then she runs around and literally pounces on toys lol

She could also be smaller due to being underweight?

Her head is pretty tiny though.

Hopefully the vet will be able to tell them what she is tomorrow. Or at least better guess. And better guess about her age too.

Speaking of which, they say she's 14 weeks. She was supposedly 13 weeks like the 8th? But she might be younger or older, idk.

They also say there were only 100 dogs on the thing? So who knows ha

And they went to CT to a Tractor Supply parking lot but yeah.

They say the agency is pretty cool and they stop every so often and meet vet techs at every stop who take them out for little walks and do all the food and water and everything.

This is them

We went for a nice walk by the river today. Very pretty day. Wish i were feeling better. Not really sick, just tired feeling. Any way, i cut 4 legs for the quail cage today and painted them. Hope to have enough energy to put it together tonight.

We saw this amazing shelf fungus today on our walk. Almost looks like a giant clam!

I love cracker barrel
Meeee too! I miss it! There aren't any in Canada, and they say emphatically that they will not expand here.
I went to the founder's house once. His wife is the most amazing woman. Got to spend time at the head office too. They have this massive warehouse full of amazing antiques.
