The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I've heard people get all sorts of weird cravings when pregnant! Including things they would never normally eat.

For instance, my nutrition professor said he knew someone once that was either a vegetarian or a vegan, I can't remember, and guess what she craved... :lau

Poor thing, apparently she like cried every time or wanted to as she chowed down burgers or steaks.

And someone else HATED liver or maybe it was pickles, that was what they craved.

Weird, huh?

Not looking forward to that haha

I wonder what would happen if you didn't eat what you craved?

I believe the cravings are spurred on much by what your body needs at the time; similar to where chickens will only reach out for the oyster shell if they need it.

The vegetarian or vegan probably needed some protein.

Not sure about Blooie ;) If it was just the apple, I would have said fibre or natural sweetness but dipped in French onion dip .. really? :p The mind could definitely boggle trying to work out what the body was craving with that combination :lau

No cravings with son #1. Number 2 i craved Long Johns. And my husband named him John Paul! And he is tall!:lau

OMG

That makes sense!

And yeah, who knows with that combo. :lau

:gig

I just had serious savoury cravings when pregnant with our daughter, and I had a terrible sweet tooth when pregnant with our son. Your sense of smell and taste become really sensitive too.

Oh great, my sense of smell is already pretty sensitive lol

I have a terrible sweet tooth 24/7

Unbelievably, I could not and did not want to drink coffee! That was one of the first things I wanted when my son was born .. bring on the coffee! :drool

Haha my friend said that when she was pregnant with her daughter, she WOULD NOT let her have coffee! Apparently she hated it. My friend wanted it but she would have like one or two sips and give it to her BF! And then just from those few sips she'd be sick! Ha

But the funny part is that she wouldn't let her have coffee but she would let her have Cookie Monsters from Mary Lou's?

So she got addicted to Cookie Monsters whike pregnant haha

I was born with red hair... then it went very light blonde... then it went light brown... then it went grey... Had poker straight hair... then it got a fair bit of curl for a few years in my 30s, then it went straight again.
Go figure.

Wow how interesting! I never realized hair could change so much! And you didn't dye, curl, or straighten it?

This is a Cookie Monster btw.

Basically just kinda like an Oreo milkshake thing I guess? But better and delicious lol

I think it says it has no caffeine, from what I've read, but my friend seems to think it does so idk.

But yeah.

And MaryLou's is a coffee place ha

Although Dunkin Donuts is much more common around here.

And MaryLou's is kind of a diner/old feel? At least according to Google/pics and everything is all pink haha

But yeah.

I always had stark straight, dark hair. My mom and aunt tried perming it several times lasted about a week. I started getting gray hairs after high school and used to pull them out with a tweezer. That only lasted a couple of years because I noticed I was pulling out so many hairs I was getting bald spots.

Then I talked myself into believing I was beautiful with any color hair. Stop laughing.!!!

Eventually I was mostly gray, not the yellowy kind, or the blue kind like the real old old ladies that had it done at the salon but pure silvery and white hairs. They just glowed in the sun so I made peace with it and accepted them fully.

Actually I love the color now. Funny thing though when it started switching to gray the hair started curling and getting waves in it. What a neat surprise. That didn't last long
and it's straight again- who cares :bun:bun

Oh yeah I did... I'm talking my natural colours. I did a few perms along the way. As I got older my hair changed so much that the solution didn't work on the right side of my head... so I had one side with nice waves and the other just stuck straight out. The curly hair happened a few years after my last perm though.
