The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I'm going through the same thing, have an enormous Sycamore tree and have gotten 2 estimates already - wow are they high. I need to get more estimates. Very nerve wracking.

Wow scary! Hope you can find a reasonable estimate!

Good morning everyone :frow

@Blooie you & Ken have a safe trip today, hope the weather can hold off long enough you can get done and home ok.

@Teila looks like you'll definitely need a bigger boat!

@drumstick diva and @KDOGG331 hope you can get those trees down before Mother Nature takes matters into her own hands.

I was looking at the calendar this morning...in 2 weeks I go back to work and in 3 weeks the restaurant will be open. :hit Not sure I'm ready to be done with all my free time yet.

Thanks! A branch actually hit our new chicken coop in one of the last storms. Thankfully though it didn't do any damage except that it took part of a shingle off on one end when it fell. We got lucky. Some of those branches are HUGE. These trees are pretty skinny but we have some HUGE, super old pines and some serious "widow makers" as my dad calls them (giant branches) in front next to the driveway

It's hard to get back into the swing of things, but at the same time it's nice to be busy.

Hi!

We have ewes lambing soon, 58 chicks in a pen that we need to get sold, and some duck eggs that need to go in the bator. On top of that, every single chicken pen seems to need fresh straw
I hear you.
I slaughtered pigs last week. All of the fresh meat is taken care of, but I've still got smoking to do.
I've got a breakout of Mycoplasma, so I've got to spend time making sure everyone is doing ok. Luckily only one is really bad. I've got to get the coop all cleaned out and disinfected.
I have the shells for new coops that I'm picking up tomorrow. I need to get at least 1 built asap.
I've got eggs in lockdown. The brooder area I have set up would expose the chicks to the Mycoplasma, so I've got to create another setup for them, also asap.
I have a house in the city that I'm getting ready to sell. The realtor that we initially met with called me yesterday to say he has a potential buyer. We haven't even listed the house yet. I've got 10 days to get the place packed, painted, cupboard doors to install and cleaned.
Ain't spring grand?

ETA: it's still dropping below freezing (-18c predicted for Friday night) and I'm completely out of firewood. I've got to get some cut right away. I can't get my log splitter to start, so I'm going to have to revert to the good old fashioned way of chopping.

It sounds like you need to give up sleeping to get all that done!

I think your Dad may need a chair to sit down in when he sees, once cut, how many of those "strong" pines could have taken out your house.

He's starting to realize that. The trees in the back, if they fell, would fall directly in the house and/or directly on my chickens. Thankfully our front yard is huge cause most of the acreage is in the front so the huge, super old trees wouldn't hit the house
