The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Aww, that's unfortunate. But accidents happen. :hugs
Yeah. Luckily she doesn't seem bothered by it. Still need to get the leg band off before it gets too tight though...
Only 1 chick has purebred features, so I'm trying to keep her identified because as they're feathering out the "wild" trait is disappearing in the other 2.

Thanks for the kudos for my son's artwork everyone! He's been drawing and painting from an early age but the watercolors are a fairly recent medium for him. Now he always knows what to give me for a present :D

@NickyKnack love the Furarians! They show so much expression and I love the eyes!

@JaeG good to see you here! What's been going on in your part of the world?

Not much other than rain and seeing as it's still reasonably warm here it's very humid, not helped by the paint drying. The backyard is already boggy.

We've just got two small rooms to clear out and paint, then it's onto doors and doorframes.

They are resilient little things. I had two Silkie chicks in with my other chicks and they bit off a whole toe. He didn't bleed that bad, thank goodness. Being so small any blood loss is critical. Let's just say, I learned my lesson. Different isn't good regardless how young chicks are. It was their two extra Silkie toes they kept going after. :hmm

Okay, time for a little Adult 101, Kelsey. I am finding it hard to find sympathy for you. That's just how I feel, and if you know anything about me it's that I don't sugar-coat. It sucks that this happened to you, but you knew you were doing it when you did it. It's like the bank robber who's not one bit sorry he robbed the bank, but is very sorry he got caught. You took a risk, you got caught. And all the tears and self-recrimination in the world aren't going to change it at this point. The hardest lessons in life are usually the most unpleasant ones, and unfortunately they are also usually the ones we had to learn the hard way.

Okay, now I'll get on out of here.

I just cut the tip of the toe off of one of my chicks!:barnie
I was trying to cut her leg band off and her toe got in the way :(
I guess I'll be able to identify her without a leg band now .

She will forgive you Michelle :p I had a friend do the exact same thing, was snipping something of the little one's foot and took off the toe tip; she was beside herself with guilt and worry etc; the chick did not seem too phased and healed up nicely.

If that is the worse thing that happens to this chicken during it's life, it is doing well ;)
