1st silkie x buckeye chick. It's got feathered feet. Gonna be interesting! Egg #2 has pipped.

What a cutie! Good luck with the rest of the hatch!

Shoot, I thought that was going to show the monster tree coming down. Scary to see how close it is to everything, please be careful! Your yard is going to look fantastic with it out of the way.

I am sitting here wondering how and why Kendra is always so happy and so enthusiastic to face every day. I just got a look at her “list of existing conditions” and it’s overwhelming to see it in one place at one time. I mean, none of this is a surprise, but wow!

Spina Bifida
Tethering spinal cord
Hydrocephalus
Neurogenic bowel and bladder
Autism
Global developmental delay
Bilateral twisted tibia
Fragmented learning
Seizure disorder
Speech and language deficiency

It’s all she’s ever known, I know, so it’s her “normal”. But I’m in awe of her heart, her courage, and her determination. If there was an award for “Most Influential Person Award” she’d be the hands-down winner.

People that can cheerfully face each day with such challenges are my heroes. :love

My dove eggs have pipped! I'm so excited - I so miss having babies around. It's a nice, warm day for them to hatch. Its more like spring than winter. I'm about to install a basket under their 'nest', which is a big, hang on feeder, just in case a baby decides to topple out at some point (sounds like that can happen). Hopefully Tilly and Dilly will be good parents as the first week the chicks are extremely difficult to feed because the parents produce 'crop milk' that is difficult to replicate. The hand rearing formula I use does have a variation for dove chicks but I'd rather not have to try (or buy any, finances being what they are). The success rate doesn't sound very good. And life is a bit chaotic.

Expect photos but baby doves aren't the prettiest babies. :wee

Looking forward to seeing the baby doves J, never seen them before!

Congrats on all the babies Cap :thumbsup

Back to work today. I swear those 2 days off go the quickest of all the week.

@KDOGG331 have you ever thought of starting your own thread geared towards other members your age? You could help each other figure out the challenges you are all facing and provide some support/help for each other. Might make some really good friends that way too. Think about it.

I never thought about that before but that's a good idea

5 months old yesterday. 40 inches long without her tail extended, and 27.5 inches at the shoulder. Her face is even with the kitchen countertop standing flat footed.

Oh wow! Big girl! And she's not even stretched out or straight there. I think she's bigger than or almost as big as Gator lol

I demand a re-measure - she isn't stretched out full length. How did you get her to stay like that long enough to try?

Most bigger breeds are very mellow and/or lazy and will gladly lay still. At least my boy is lol

A down/stay is his favorite command :lau
