The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

oh, i was raised in ft.walton bch, met husband when he was stationed down at hulbert air force base LOOOONG time ago. if we had no seeums i never knew it but we had everything else, some of those were my toys and pets, altho tree frogs were kinda rare, guess thats why snakes don't bother me altho i will kill a poisonous one if i run across one, everything else is safe:)

I enjoyed the lizards and tree frogs...as long as they stayed outside the house :hmm

we bought a little place down there in a little town called defuniak springs, husband can't take the cold and snow anymore so we go down in dec and stay til sometime in april, whenever a frog or lizard gets in the house, i just catch them and take them back outside. theres a lot of the green tree frogs there, they usually hide during the day unless its raining, they would dry out fast otherwise. coming back this april, we had a hitch hiker, our son found a tree frog in our trailer, grandson wanted him so hes living the life of riley with all the crickets he can eat:gig

When we had our little farm, it was about 50 miles east of Gainesville, sort of north/central FL. We had no-seeums, Love bugs, mosquitos, stink bugs, lizards, snakes, tree frogs and about every other kind of critter.
I have bugs galore here in TN... Some eat me others ignore me. I like the others.

Hurlbert field was an interesting place. It was a long time ago... Then I retired from mac dill 12/1992

Finding a lizard in the house was one of my first introductions to living in FL.

I had dropped a ring on the floor and it rolled under the stove. Using a broom handle, I was able to get my ring back PLUS a dried up petrified lizard.

Scared the bejeebers out of me! I was very careful to not drop things on that floor again.

our house was about three miles from hurlbert , many a time my sister and i would be sitting in a boat in the bay across from the landing field when the planes would come in. what year were you there?
yes, i love the ones who ignore me, the ones who want to eat me, not so much

:lau:gig, try having one land on your head as you walk under a tree, altho not afraid of them to say they sometimes starle me is an under statement

Debby you gotta love those nasty big beetles that love FL... I took DW on honeymoon in FL and found her perched on top of the toilet screaming when those things came out of the wall...
