The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I've waited 8+ years to hear from my youngest. Sometimes things just go that way.

Cap, how are you feeling today?
Not too bad as far as neck and shoulder pain but IBS is killing me. Thanks for asking.
Selling off 7 chickens today, i need less livestock.

Finally, someone with colder temps than mine :lau I was waiting to hear how your's was Michelle!

Hey, how's the house coming along?
Electrician wired everything last week. Power is hooked up. Insulation is in the walls. I believe the vapour barrier is going on next.

Does the US require arc fault breakers down there? It's code here, and the bloody things pop non stop.

Were they right next to the packaged chicken that he would eat? Seems the feet weren't likely cut off and the chickens put back in the coop ;)

You don't want 40 gallons of stock?? Well, me either, can't imagine how long it would take to use up let alone the freezer space to keep it.
We literally have to call it "white meat" to be able to eat it! I bought an 1/8 share of grass fed, organic beef for the freezer...He's still suspicious of that meat. Went to the store and bought a steak for the grill! Love that guy but he's nuttier than squirrel turds!

DH said he thinks they are required here too.

Good to have the insulation in!

Morning all :frow

Took me a while to catch up this morning...
KD, I grow meat birds for my freezer and use the carcass, neck and feet to make stock. I also save roasted bones for the stock.

Bama, those ox tails seasoned up, roasted on the grill and tossed in a pot of water with onion, celery, carrot, garlic and bay will make a wonderful stock. I also add a bag of mixed pepper corns to mine. But it has to simmer at least 12 hours and get's richer the longer it simmers. I like to start my stock mid day on Friday and can it up Sunday afternoon.
Good information! I bet peppercorns add a nice flavor/aroma. We are both retired so time is no issue
Also had not thought of grilling them. Yummmm!

I just asked Mr. Master Electrician here and he said to call your electrician back out - they should only pop if there’s an issue, so if yours are popping nonstop there’s a reason.

Good morning, everyone! Another busy one here today. Taking the Tundra in to the dealership in Powell for its regular service, I have a prescription to pick up there, then have to make a run to Cody - you know, that place Debby and Frankenfoot will one day be moving to so we can be neighbors - to replenish badly needed supplies. When we get back we are taking down the tree and the few decorations I have out, and haul them over to the storage unit. I think dinner tonight will be in Cody, probably at the Proud Cut so Ken can get his Rodeo Burger and I can have my big bowl of French Onion soup - tons of cheese, please! They usually bring me a condiment cup full of melted mozzarella to dump into it, too. My cardiologist is squirming as I type, but right now we want anything but leftover ham!

YES! And when I get there you have to take me to the Proud Cut so I can try the soup and I'll take you to the German restaurant so you can try the schnitzel.

Will catch up later but just took Gator on a patrol.* Might be his last. But hopefully not.

*Patrol to us means walking through the woods on the property. We have like 2.6 acres and a lot of it is woods plus the neighbors all own woods so it all connects so we walk through it/around the property and it’s a pretty good walk. Well, like a walk but better lol mini hike. But we don’t do very many patrols or even regular walks since he has gotten older and sicker but I wanted to take him on one more.
