Thank you everyone. I am definitely going to miss him, I think we all are, but it was time. He was starting to suffer and looking back on previous photos, even just from a few years ago, he was so full of life and joy, tail held high, curled up over his back, and so much spark and life in his eyes, and I haven’t really seen him like that in a long time so we didn’t want to prolong his suffering. I think he was ready. I didn’t take him to the vet’s but my dad and brother did and they said he was just happy/calm and laid down and not stressed which is very unusual for him, he is usually panting and pacing and very stressed out. So I think he was ready too. I am now glad I took him on one final patrol. But even then, he wasn’t as excited about it as he usually was, didn’t really sniff or mark much, and was just very weird today so I think he maybe knew or something. I like to think he was ready. We took him for one final ride too before his vet appointment. Took him to McDonald’s and got him a plain cheeseburger, which he gulped down whole (my brother gave it to him whole rather than breaking it up but we didn’t realize till after lol) but he actually ate it which is odd because he hasn’t been eating like anything lately, wanted one final meal I guess. Didn’t have trouble eating/chewing it either. Then we took him down some of his favorite roads and to the dog park parking lot to let him sniff (didn’t take him out cause it would be too hard to get him back in) and he perked up a bit and sniffed. Cruised him through my brother’s neighborhood and were gonna let him out to sniff around the yard one more time but, again, too hard to get him back in plus he probably would have laid down and wanted to stay which would be sad. And I also think Franklin’s scent would have stressed him out because he has never met Frank (he’s met Libby) and Frank is almost mature now at 6 months and intact so I think smelling an intact male on “his” turf would have freaked him out and he would have exhausted himself running around sniffing and marking their yard. But anyway, so we did not stop, but drove through it, and drove to the boat ramp and he actually stood up and stuck his head out the window and was just sniffing the marsh/ocean air. Then took him by the dog park once more and then they dropped me off at home and I said goodbye to Gator and then they took him. So I think he had a good last day. As good as it could get. We tried. My dad originally wasn’t going to take him to McDonald’s because he didn’t want him to get sick but we decided that he had to do everything he liked once more and he LOVED McDonald’s. I do wish he could have gotten to go to the dump once more though because he absolutely loved going to the dump with my dad or maybe on the boat or beach once more but oh well.

Thank you Blooie. I am glad I took him on that final walk too. We also took him on a final cruise around the neighborhood and one final McDonald’s cheeseburger before his vet appointment.

Sorry, autocorrect changed it. Obviously meant Blooie not Brooke lol fixed it
