The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

i love a good heavy buttered popcorn but thats another thing i gave up, popcorn is corn and when i eat it my sugar goes up into the 200's, not a good thing, bread is another thing that makes it goes up, sometimes if i get crazy and eat potatoes, flour products my blood sugar can go up into the 300's, trying to get my a1c normal so i can maybe get off meds, trying, but hard with a husband that loves his junk food and eats it in front of me all the time:rolleyes: trying to get him on the band wagon and sometimes he tries but he won't keep it up, maybe one day:fl
well, have to go to the store today and pick up meat and veggies for this week so will be back later today

Thanks, that makes sense. I sometimes forget how popcorn is corn. I know it has it in the name but I forget. Funny thing is I don’t really like corn at all but I love popcorn. I’ve been trying not eat the microwave kind though as they say it has some sort of chemicals or something in it or maybe in the bag that can cause cancer so I try not to eat that and stick with the stuff with simpler ingredients like what I got but I do love popcorn and I love the butter kind too and I love kettle corn. But I have found most prepackaged butter flavor isn’t really good, only good microwaved or from the movie theater, so aka hot. Not really good cold. I am trying to cut out bread but it’s hard because it’s so quick and easy and my dad loves it and eats it all the time/buys it a lot. I am trying to get him to stop eating it too or at least eat it way less because my mom and I could go without it but he is always eating it. English muffins, PB&Js, sandwiches, etc. sometimes even has a little half PB&J even after he just ate, “dessert”. And he just bought Portuguese sweet rolls with raisins. Granted it is delicious but he saw it and wanted it. Nobody needs those. I hope you can get him on board and get your levels under control! I think I am technically prediabetic or almost there, have been for I think a couple years now :hide or at least a year but haven’t changed yet :hide I sometimes try to but it never lasts long. It’s hard to. I do eat slightly better than I was, no more fast food, but I still eat mostly sugar and carbs :hide

If it isn't in the ingredient list, there isn't any added. You still check the RDAs since there is natural sugar in some foods.

More boring but you could try adding carrots and celery to your snacks.

Thanks, that makes sense. I will check.

And that is a good idea. I was thinking of doing that actually. And I think we have a veggie tray if it is still good. I will look. Recently got some organic chicken and hamburger too so maybe I’ll make chicken or something for lunch.

Peas fresh off the vine are the best!
Reading that directly after Kdogg's dietary post sent my brain to "but it is too early for peas". Then figured out you weren't making a suggestion of something to add to her snack tray.

But you are right, lots of things are great right off the plant.
