The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning All.... Its still morning here for about 45 minutes.

I am with sour my eyes are itching.... but its because its so dry and the air is full of pollen....

Debby those are just recipes I want to try. The ones from Not Your Mommas canning Cookbook can be scaled down a bit... plus she occasionally uses these cool looking Weck Jars. I want to give the small waterbath recipes a try with Weck Jars.

Weck Jars are glass with glass lids and rubber reuseable rings..... common in Europe

Weck jars come in all sizes and shapes but they are a bit pricy so I will only do things that can be water bathed and Consumable by me only.

Not all the sizes... but those Metal clips are to keep the lids on while they are processing They can be used again after the jar is open to keep it sealed in the refrigerator.... But they also have snap on lids for that purpose as well

Sorry I will go on and on till I get experience with it... I am Beginning to Sort out my Jewelry supplies for moving to the house. I finally located Book Boxes for packing... YOu cant fill them so heavy I cant lift them.

Found a new online Artist I am watching her videos... and taking notes... Mentally

I need to see the Eye doc again. My eyesight is getting pretty terrible. If I am going to Do jewelry again I am going to need glasses specifically for that. As well as a new prescription for online.

Still Have decent distance vision so thats good.

Love those Weck jars Deb, nice sizes! When do you expect to get moved?

After the first of the year a month or two after. Still waiting for the trust account funds so I can disburse them. Plus have to transfer this house over to Dean so he can sell it.

first thing at the house I need my driveway graded I been away for about twelve years now. Then I will hire a moving company to do the move.

House is in rough shape its been empty now for ten years. so it needs work. I am comfortable with contracting on my own.. After the move in I have to have a new breaker box more modern plus the living room and kitchen have to be rewired.

After that I am off and running.

Oh and I just thought of this... When the movers come I will have them move my 110 gallon fish tank in the house. It weighs over three hundred pounds and the best I could do is park it in the carport... If I want to raise Tilapia I have to start inside the house.

Good morning! :frow
+1*c (about 34*F) & sunny this morning. Yay!
Clearly I live too far SOUTH! It was -14°C at 6 this morning.

I went to the dentist yesterday.... I've had several teeth ache for the past 10 days. Turns out that I have an abcess. My teeth hurt more now than before I went in and they poked around. Chances are I'm going to lose 1 tooth. Just my luck it's right beside my front tooth. Also just my luck, I don't have any insurance. :th
They might be able to get to the abscess without pulling the tooth. Some years back I had a root canal on a top central incisor that I had damaged decades before when building a treehouse in an orange tree (did you know that a living orange tree has very hard wood?). About a week after the root canal I had an issue, infection above the tooth. The dentist cut out a small "window" of bone in my jaw to get to the infection. The bone fills back in on its own. Maybe your abscess can be handled the same way :fl

YOu cant fill them so heavy I cant lift them.
And with books it doesn't take much of a box to get too heavy for most people!!

Depending on the size... Some are up to 200 watts. Great part about them though is alot of them are submersible So you could put them right into a large water delivery pipe. Like a four incher...

I'm thinking of Cap's idea. I'm on solar, so I'm looking for low wattage alternatives.

You could do it with a small tank heater they go as low as 25 watts to heat five gallons. But they dont stay on all the time... if the water tank is insulated even better. Once the water is up to temperature it turns off...

Yep, you definitely want to insulate the water tank, just like you insulate your house. The less cold that gets inside the less it costs to keep it warm. The submersible aquarium heaters I have (and they are old) have adjustable temp; IIRC about 10°F in the 70°F or so range, apparently a lot of new ones are preset to 78°F. If one does get an aquarium heater, they need to make sure it is big enough to be able to hold that temp in the water tank so they aren't on all the time.
