Despite the drought it looks like there is still some green there for the lovely cattle.
I did thank you (and it's lovely you all were thinking of me). It's a busy time in our family for birthdays. We have 5 in the space of 4 and a half weeks. Very bad planning right after Christmas.
Thankfully we have some kikuya grass here that grows no matter how dry it gets. All the annual grasses went to seed and died off. The cattle have been enjoying the reeds down by the road though which is good because they are massive and weedy. A lot of what's brown on our place are weed seed heads that are too tough for the cattle to eat. I wanted to lop them all off but we don't want to use anything that could create a spark at the moment as it's so dry. The poor farmers are having to cull stock and use feed that should be saved for winter. Thankfully we have enough grass and water to see us through.
