Well we officially have community transfer here but the government has no intention of closing schools unless a student tests positive for Covid-19. The vast majority of NZ teachers would be in the over 50s so immediately more at risk, and if a student tests positive they've had up to 10 days to spread it around the school before the decision is made to close. My Mum is a teacher of 5 year olds (she's 65 years old) and my older sister is also a teacher. My Dad was treated for prostate cancer last year and has other health issues and my Nan also lives with them. She's had to have surgery to fit a pace maker, as well as recently been treated for thyroid cancer. So immediately they are all at risk.

I just think it's a bad decision (and I can complain about my government because there aren't any other Kiwis on this thread).
The shopping frenzy has started. Usually I do an online order that we pick up and I can always do it the day before I want to pick it up - I could do it the same day if it wasn't a weekend. But I checked online today and the first available slot was 4 days from now! So the craziness is going to ramp up here with a vengeance.
The person that had Muscovy ducklings wanted me to take all 7 but that's a few too many bodies inside for the 2 months before they are fully feathered. So we are going to try hatching some. There's a lovely lady down the way who we've got chicken eggs off before and she has half a dozen fertile Muscovy eggs for us. It's going to be a great distraction from all the craziness that's happening at the moment and something the kids can focus on. But it's going to be a long 35 days until they hatch! And it'll be just my luck that all 6 hatch (hopefully not)!
