The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good afternoon folks. Just to make sure everyone is clear on the mask issue, CDC is recommending cloth masks, not for your protection, but to protect others from you. They are not recommending surgical masks which are in critically short supply.

This guidance probably should have come out much sooner, but they were afraid of a run on masks, which happened anyway. The point is that if everyone covers their nose and mouth, it significantly reduces their ability to spread the virus.

These are tough and interesting times. People will and do react differently in these situations and as a general rule, the internet and media are not necessarily helpful, because of the rapid ability to spread mis-information. The media is no longer interested in fact reporting, but rather ratings and hype. I'm sorry I've become so cynical, but I spent too many years up close and personal in DC.

Everyone masking is a good idea, because no one knows who the next carrier is. And this is a good way to reduce transmission. Everyone be safe.

:goodpost: It's hard to wade through all the stuff on the internet and news, thanks for clarifying the mask issue Bob!

My plumber is quarantined, my handy man is afraid to leave his house, and I can't find a carpet installer that's open for business. This is not a fun time to be a property manager :hit :he
i have a in house plumber :lau so glad we retired years ago. i wouldn't like him going out and maybe catching it

I've spent a lot of my life studying people in different situations. It's complicated, but we are going to see the worst of the worst in people before it gets better. I wish I had a happier report.
i don't understand people anymore, did they breed the brains right out of them? the one woman told the server she hoped she got the virus and died, all over a coffee carrier that she didn't want, as she coughed on her and tried to throw the coffee back into the window

The world is changing because of the internet and different values that are no longer taught. When you and I were taught to respect our elders, respect our friends and above all else respect ourselves. Today, its a whole different world where respect is no longer important. I've seen this pendulum swing, sooner than later I suspect that "respect" will become important again. At least I hope so...

There's no excuse for that sort of behavior

I hope you're right Bob.

I think it brings out the best in people too. I've heard stories of people helping their neighbors, strangers at the store, etc. 99% of the people I deal with are pretty decent. The stories of rotten people bring ratings and get attention. Hard to ignore so I limit my news watching.

I think you're right IM, good people will still be good. I've been trying to limit my news checking too. Kind of hard to ignore it though when it's so pervasive.
