Good morning everyone
Have a great day!
That's all you do for the filling?!I buy frozen cherries at the grocery store. Mix them up with some sugar, a bit of flour to thicken so they don't get soupy, a pinch of salt and some almond extract.
Good MOOrnin everyone

That's all you do for the filling?!

Thank you so much, I'm going to try this! This is from my old Betty Crocker cookbook (I've modified the recipe a bit so it's not as sweet as the original recipe) and I use the frozen sweet cherries you can find in a big bag at most grocery stores. Walmart has the best price on frozen cherries that I've been able to find around here.
For a 9" pie
Put 5-6 cups thawed cherries in a large bowl, add 1 cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, pinch of salt, 1/4 teaspoon almond extract. Mix well and put in the bottom crust of your pie pan. Put the top crust on, make slits for steam to escape. I like to sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on the top crust but that's just me. Bake at 425* for about 45-50 minutes or until crust is browned.
