I have 21 healthy chicks. One that is iffy
and 6 pips in the bators that aren't hopeful. 1 in the brinsea the others in the hovabator.

Perhaps I should call this,

"The Miracle Blue Wheaten Hatch of 2010"

Not the results I wanted but I was surprised this morning.

Total of 33 chicks now with 2 zipping and one good sized pip in the brinsea but no others.

Perhaps they will be the last three.

One had zipped with it's wing and head and eye shrink wrapped to membrane. I washed with warm water and got off everything but the one eye seems to be permanently shut and it's one of my BWA X BBL Polish.

A couple of zippers (4 had quit and died)

All but two of my own eggs have hatched... another polish and a marans

Not bad 11-14 more chicks than I thought I would get.

And so,
I am grateful.

My LED Lenser's batteries are gone and we don't have replacements! Perhaps DW will get me some while I'm at work.

Is today day 22 for you Mahonri? I am thinking you may still have more chicks. I know patience is not a virtue that you have, but since you have to work today .... maybe you will have more little peeping surprises when you get home!

I am still at pips ..... 4 pips in the 6 Icelandic eggs. Today is day 21 at 7PM tonight.

I am pretty sure they are courtunix. I don't keep quail, just hatch them for a nice man on Craig's List. He keeps them for eggs (to sell on CL) and meat (to eat). Long story short, I saw his ad, we became friends, and now I charge him a prefunctory $.25 per quail I hatch. I'd do it for free, but then my 4-year-old crys and crys, "Nick stole my ka-WAIL!!!" So, Nick pays him in pocket change.

Basically, I am raising an extortionist.

as for bad hatches.... I have 13 sebastopol adult geese... but I only hatched 2 babies this year!! Im throwing eggs out of the incubator weekly. Today I candled the eggs under the hens ...... NOTHING!!!
