Oh Patricia. I laid out fly paper one evening, just long enough to do chores, because I *thought* the pigs might try to eat the paper. I come back after less than an hour expecting to pick it up...and its GONE. I desperately search for it...and hiding like she can do no wrong, Pat has it rolled up under her wing like she was stealing an egg for her clutch. Patricia tried to have a free fly snack, I believe. Instead she got a free dye job. Red is not her color.

*we usually only use fly paper up high, or inside our garage. I know better than this, I was just a little desperate for some fly relief that night. Usually we use non toxic bait, and a fly swatter.

holy cow!

I thought a hawk got her, as I looked EVERYWHERE for her that evening after my friend left. My daughter and I were both so upset that we lost our favorite hen.

The next morning my friend sent me a picture of her and said - do you recognize this chicken???

She had left my house and driven almost 100 miles on the interstate (70 MPH and up), she had also gone to the pharmacy and walmart!

She kept hearing some noises and thought something was wrong with her jeep and was planning to take it to the mechanic the next day, when she went out to leave, my chicken hopped out from the wheel like nothing had happened.

This is Rusty, and he loves to sit on my lap and take pictures with me.

Oh, a nice rooster. How old is Rusty?

Out of the 8 chickens I have, Ben is the only one to potty on me!
At least you can laugh about it.

My little hens love to eat their pellets, their treats, forage for bugs, and.....eat my garage.

I hope they didn't smell too bad.

This is my SBEL from MPC. I haven't named her but she's into my business every time I'm in the chickens area. If I open the coop door, She'll jump up and help me look for eggs, if I bend over, she'll jump on my back. Super friendly and VERY nosy.

Interesting, I have never had a chicken do that, goats yes, but not chickens.

It started maybe in June. They only did it once then again the next night or a few weeks later. Thought it was done with. Well recently they started doing it again. Every night for a few nights. Then I went on vacation last week, they did it to my dad every night.

I think it's because the coop is too small and summer is hot, we're building the new one very slowly. But now it seems to only be if I don't put the roost bars back up before night (they knock them down laying their eggs). Also used to be only a few chickens up there and now it is all of them. Little brats.

At first I caught them one by one and put them on the roosts but now I just fix the roost bars and push them off the roof and they go to bed on their own.

They know they're not supposed to be up there though so start moving around whem I go out there.

Bad chickens! I hope you are able to get the new coop finish and they start to roost properly then.
