I did have Rudy but he was way too loud so he went back to the farm...so my confused hens believe I'm the roo..:gig

Well that's not a bad thing! When my roo died my two old hens thought I was the roo too and they followed me everywhere, it was annoying. Then my bantam roo took over

This is Muffin, she is three years old. She is a quail Antwerp Belgian bantam D'Anver. Look it up, she looks nothing like one. Her "sister" layed eggs and looked wonderful, but Muffin never did.

Edit: okay so she looks like one but she is a terrible example is what I meant. She has white feathers and they're all scraggly.

you must not have a rooster, in my experience most of the time it's hens that don't have a rooster that do that.

Yep, mine do the same thing. They're just now getting a couple young (17 week) cockerels, but it's been so much fun explaining to visitors what they're doing in delicate terms with young ears listening. No, she's not afraid, she just thinks people are her boyfriends.

I wonder just how many bearded/muffed chickens bear the name "Muffin" (or Muffy)?
