The Old Folks Home

I get my shots at CVS pharmacy in Target. The pharmacist and I go back to the 90's which is the only reason I stay. I get my prescriptions through Silver Script. I'd much rather pay for the shots in store, than have a dr. office visit charge plus administration of the shot itself. Plus Target gives $ 5 gift coupon use for anything in the store.

Perchie glad to hear you are doing better!
We went to a corn maze with my DD and two of my grands this weekend then we went and helped pick potatoes for the needy. The kids did pretty good helping out considering they are 3 and 4 and we were at it for about 3 1/2 hours. I was surprised at how many volunteers there were on Sunday afternoon. We got about 25k pounds of potatoes harvested. It was really inspiring. FB_IMG_1568578457847.jpg 20190915_091316.jpg

Micro, are they really considering giving shots to people through their car windows? Isn't someone supposed to keep half an eye on them for a minute or two after the injection? At the Urgent Care where I used to work, they took your blood pressure (maybe all the vitals? I can't remember) for each injection. Just to be good docs/nurses. Huh, drive-by flu shots. This is worse than self-checkout!

You got it Angel! That is exactly what they are doing. I haven't seen it in action but from what I heard at the club meeting, they give the shots through an 'open window' or door of the car and they can do it via either side of the vehicle. DH pointed out the anaphylactic possibility right off and asked me 'how much you wanna bet that if you are there you'll wind up jabbing your epi-pen into somebody having a severe reaction to the shot?' And what happens if the person in the car drives off and has a reaction a mile or two away? Too scary for our liking.

Another reason we bowed out. Having the education means being aware of what can go wrong even with the best of intentions.

Wish me luck! I start Physical Therapy today and not a moment too soon as my neck started bothering me again yesterday and I could barely crawl out of bed this morning. Started back on the Methotrexate out of desperation. It was nice not hurting for a few months when they hit the sweet spot for my dosage. Hoping to recreate that!

@Beer can I remember Ma and Pa Kettle! What a hoot. My dad used to watch them and just laugh his head off. My mother used to say that it mirrored 'real life' way too closely. Now my DB refers to mom and dad as Ma and Pa Kettle whenever he talks about them and yeah, closer to truth than I like to admit.:gig

I agree, I'm glad your daughter got the job. Great benefits and retirement. I hope she likes it. I know what a 'you know what' it is driving that distance just for training. They used to make us watch those videos every year. I asked why? Did they really think we forgot about harassment and elder abuse in 364 days. They said it was state law, blah blah blah.....After two years of doing it, I'd just doze off and tell whoever was sitting by me to nudge me when it was over. Usually the poor person said 'yeah but who's gonna wake me up?' Such a waste of God's time but they were paying us to watch the movies so it wasn't too painful.

@perchie.girl. That Gabapentin is a pain. It works but it is a pain. If I hate it during the day it will mess up my balance and make my mouth dry on top of it. I don't know which side effect is worse. Glad to hear from you tho! Keep up the good work!:hugs

Diesel is off getting snippity doo dah'ed today. We are hoping it settles him down and gets him to stop fighting with the other 4 dogs. Each one of them has had a puncture wound on their legs or ears because of his 'bossing them around'. He has a notch in his ear now from one of them fighting back at him, probably one of the girls who got tired of his 'Carp'. I told DH that if this doesn't work we would have to rehome him to a farm with no other dogs or cats. I'm tired of breaking up dog fights that he has started. I love the little guy but......

I am I had a Cardiologist appointment last week and she took me off all my Blood pressure meds except one that is still at half a dose. One I had been on for a very long time... Hydrochlorothiazide....

My weight loss has moved to a more sedentary pace but I am now solidly in the two hundreds at 297. Oh and I did some adjusting on my own. Gabapenton for me is three 100 Mg Capsules a day. I was already taking two at night. Nerve pain from Diabetes will be with me forever. But my dizzy ness was getting worse and really causeing me fear and depression.

So I gave it a week and went off my morning dose. From DAY 1 my balance was almost normal... and only got better as the week went by.

My stamina isnt there but one thing at a time.

It will take time for strength to return. It took a long time to get to where you were so it will take some time to get back

The rate of reaction for vaccines is 1.34 per one million inoculations.

It would be unlikely that there would be a reaction at your event
