Somehow the behavior seems appropriate in a young 'male of the species' dog who has just figured out that some evil stranger is out to steal the family jewels.

Good thing he didn't put 2 and 2 together and figure out it was YOU who had the vet remove the jewels!

Well micro when you do another male, I think they will start talking and figure out what is going on and who ordered it. I have to think females suffer more being spayed than a male being robbed of his jewels.

DH built a new neck support for my Catrike. We used to race these trikes and frankly I love my Catrike Pocket. There is just something nice about lounging back in a chaise lounge chair and riding, and then leaning back and relaxing while you talk to friends. We took a short ride up the gravel road to test out the neck rest. Beautiful evening except for the fact that the golden rod and rag week are blooming. This is my bike:

@drumstickdiva, the strange thing about the way this vet does things is our old vet back in IL removed the 'excess skin' after castrating. Made for less swelling and didn't irritate the dog so much. No matter how tough, that has got to hurt.

I'm planning on two flu shots this year. I'll get the first when I see the doc the first of October then get another one in January or February. I'm trying Methotrexate again so not going to get caught like I did last year. Plus pneumovacc.

I feel like somebody beat me like a stick today. Back hurts, front hurts....my hair hurts. One exercise hit me hard. The PT gal warned me it might but try it and if it bothered me, modify it. Yep she was right it did. The therapist has a web site that I can sign into and report on how my workouts go. She writes back to you then with advice and instructions. Pretty impressive. Even more impressive is that she is a back pain sufferer herself and most of her spine is fused. It's not like I'm talking to a so perky you want to drive a nail in their foreheads 23 year old but a real person who is middle aged and walks worse than I do. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Diesel is back to being Diesel, bless his little rebel heart. His little. ummmm...family jewel holder? Hmmm I think you get the picture. Is swollen like an apricot but he's pretty much bouncing around like his old self. Told DH the next one up to bat, we will take him in right before his surgery is scheduled, stay with them until they have him prepped and then pick him up asap. No sense putting them through all the stress Dee went through. Makes me wonder how many cattle dogs, the vet has really dealt with in his practice besides our late Dingo.

Yes, feeling better but my joints still hurt more than normal. The weather is cooler, so I got a lot done today!

was ginda funny took Moose in Back quite a while ago he was too big to put his head in a boot anyways but they gave girls tramadol for pain I said not the boys she said they did not give it to the boys took him home gave him one poor baby

Microchick please forgive my ignorance. I never had jewels removed from a male dog.
I had one Ch.stud that sired 20 chs. and his son who went into the family business when his father passed away. The father would lift his leg on anything and anyone - he decided the whole world was HIS. His son never marked anything*. He was very welcome in the house. Since I had a breeding/show kennel - neither male was ever castrated.

*Must be like a young cockerel won't crow in the presence of an Alpha male.

We always have the vet give them pain medicine after reproductive surgery. I had a lady vet who once had surgery on her ovaries tell me that she couldn't believe that we actually operated on dogs, especially females to spay or neuter and didn't give them pain meds. She confessed that she could barely walk after her surgery and from that day forward would give pain meds to dogs and cats post spaying and neutering.

Diesel has been our main 'leg heister' in the house. All our furniture in the living room is leather so we keep it covered with throws or blankets to protect it from the animals. So he was hitting that instead of the furniture but it was making for a lot of work. That and he was fighting with the other boys. Not with the older male, Buck but with all his brothers. One has a 'pierced ear' and he has a notch in an ear due to an attempt to boss his sister around.

We are hoping the neutering will slow him down a bit. If we were certain that Varn and Ben wouldn't roam or water the furniture, we wouldn't get them neutered after what Diesel went through.

Yeah @penny1960, You know me, just trying to stay out of trouble...and usually failing as trouble always finds me.

@CapricornFarm, glad to hear that you are feeling better. Joints hurting can really put a damper on a good day. It's hot here Near 90 but they are calling for rain over the weekend with the possibility of heavy rain then cooler weather. I have a lot to do outside with fall cleaning and need to catch up on my part of the mowing and weed spraying.

Morning old Folks day without rain but no sun so far cool as outside no wool socks quite yet ...use to see how many cat castration we could do in ten minutes cat or dog pretty simple bit of super glue and a scapula

Penny, wasn't that attempted during the Civil War? Only it was a surgeon who was touted as being able to amputate a leg in a rediculously short period of time? Only a finger or two of the nurse was lost in the process?
