It is still happening with measles. Samoa had 6 people die recently from measles and now there is a law that all must be vaccinated for school there

My DIL " homeschools" and she doesn't get those 4 grandkids vaccinated! Really makes me mad.

A lot of things were eradicated here, but not in other countries. Now, with so many foreigners coming into our country, they're re-introducing things that we have not seen in years.

Not just foreigners coming in, but Americans traveling overseas. We live in a global world now. Germs arrive and leave, cultures change, we get to eat Thai food.

One early example of this was white Europeans coming to this continent, infecting Native Americans with new diseases that killed off large numbers. Even earlier:

That is just it there are those like that that refuse to there was a big case here Mom against 16 year old Son he sued her so he could get vaccinated and won

I was just reading today about the study published in the 90's that supposedly said that vaccines caused autism. (They DON'T.) The study was retracted years later (which is a big deal) but people are still quoting it. Most of the quotes were to say it the results were false, but sadly, it's still alive and well, killing children.

Samoa actually closed all the schools. They are taking it seriously due to the sudden rash of deaths.

The Amish around us do not vaccinate anything for anything, including their kids.

Some time ago I was in one of their shops and noticed a sign on the 'public' bulletin board. It read in effect that if you or if you got vaccinations for yourself or your children you were allowing them to pump pus into your body. I read it, stood there with my mouth hanging open and shook my head in disbelief.

Not long after that, I was over at what was then an Amish next door neighbor's house. It was a week day, the kids were home. I asked if it was a holiday for them and the mother said no, that there was a whooping cough outbreak in the community and she was keeping her kids home till it passed as she had a new baby....she ALWAYS had a new baby...All I could think about was how many old and immunocompromised people were in the grocery store at the same time as one of the parents of one of those kids and they hadn't had a recent DPT booster?

Made me want to run to the doctor and get a booster shot.

There is so much misinformation out there, even amongst minorities in America like the Amish that it's just plain sad.

The Amish fought hard in court about that if I recall.. Washington state recently removed all exemptions to being vaccinated on kids I applaud that I know have few

I know DH was involved with Rotary years ago and they have really pressed to eliminate polio in third world countries. Isn't it making a comeback now?

I had not heard if Polio it is one a the nastier diseases out there

Yes!

A team headed to Africa this week to vaccinate for an outbreak there.

Polio was almost gone but the wars have messed up vaccinations.

We could see polio come back here too sadly
