The Old Folks Home

BEAUTIFUL! I can appreciate every stitch and embellishment that you put into that! I'm working on Christmas ornaments later today. I finally got a bottle of black acrylic paint. Could not justify green or blue eyes on the folk art chicken ornaments I'm painting.

Getting ready to make bread, at least get the yeast to proof for me then lunch, then have to help DH get the pup's back yard hot wired. Ben has discovered that if he jumps up at the posts where it is supported, he can get purchase and climb up and jump over. Funny little dog and so smart. I'm sure they won't appreciate the hot wire but not much choice. All they do is run back and forth between the house and the chicken coop when they are out. Tut stands guard between them and his girls but doesn't get scared any more as the run is hot wired and the pups do know that. He just squawks at them like he's saying 'really? that's the best you can do?'

Of course they haven't seen a rabbit, squirrel or Amish buggy yet. We are prepared to have to chase them into the next county then.
We want to see your ornaments when they are done, please!

Made dinner tonight. :D

just popping in to say Hi

I'm making Ghee. Six pounds of butter melting on the stove.

You cook it till it starts popping a little on low heat. the milk solids rise but some settle to the bottom... Once the milk solids on the top sink down and the bubbles get big you watch carefully to see if the butter is browning.

When its just right you pour it off through a fine sifter into what ever container you like. Takes about twenty minutes.

IN a steril container with a good lid the ghee has a stable non refrigerated shelf life of a few months to a year.... use a clean spoon EVERY time too.

once the milk solids are gone you can fry or even deep fry with ghee. Good for fish and pastry and pan searing steak.... all sorts of things.

I burned my last batch and it was Yummy. Almost a caramel flavor... Still have some and it hasnt gone rancid in more than a year.

deb Whole house smells like a movie theater.

Poor you, no mumps! :lau Got all those and mumps too. Older sister and I managed to miss out on the scarlet fever which my younger sister got, don't know from where or how we managed to miss it.

Sure does, same virus. After you recover from the outward symptoms and think you have it beat it goes and hides in your spine waiting for a sneak attack decades later. Mine was about 10 years ago, before I was "old enough" for the vaccine. One of the most painful experiences of my life. I got the vaccine a few years ago before the new one came out, guess I should get that one too because I do NOT want shingles again.

Hmm, wonder why that would be. Maybe you could record the little demons some day so you can play it back while you clean houses just so you don't suffer in silence. ;)
No suffering going on:lol:
