The Old Folks Home

Happy Sunday, Everyone!

Holiday parties happening. DH and I are feeling our age. We went to an afternoon get-together from 3-6 yesterday and by 8:00 p.m. we couldn't keep our eyes open on the sofa to watch whatever it was we were attempting to watch at home. Oops! Well, I guess we'll be on the Nice list as we certainly cannot get out there into much trouble.

We've got a landline and then DH and I each have a cell phone. Truth be told, my cell phone is rarely on. Having been on-call for work kind of soured me to the prospect of having portable drama in my life. The landline has a big digital display, so there's notification of missed messages practically visible from across the room.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

@getaclue in the end it wouldn't make a difference. Even with US cellular, voicemails wouldn't appear until months after the fact. We could check weekly and they wouldn't be there. Then suddenly appear. I still probably wouldn't have gotten the news until two or more months after whatever happened was over and done with even if I'd checked it every day. DH had even immediately said that he had just checked the voice mail recently and there was nothing there. Then suddenly, 18+ voicemails suddenly appear.

6 years ago back in IL, I had a friend show up at the house at 10pm one night asking me to check my phone. I had talked to her earlier in the day, hung up, but my phone had called her phone over 500 times....on it's own. We had to turn it off to get it to quit. Took the phone into US cellular, they sent it in for repair and sent me a new phone as an upgrade. Mine was a defect in that particular phone that was unrepairable.

It's all water under the bridge at this point in time. But at this point, we are ready to get rid of the phone and get a land line. Never had this problem with a land line and answering machine.
Sadly landlines are not landlines anymore either.

I been AWOL on all the threads... not feeling well at all.

Just checking in to see if there is anything that needs my attention...

Thanks for checking in!

can't like that penny, that's a lot of moolah
Our phone and internet combined is $122/month

Sadly landlines are not landlines anymore either.
How is that possible? I'd heard that the cell calls get transferred to landline, then back to cell at the tower closest to the intended recipient.
