How do you like yours I was more concerned about the cones then you do not have them
flopping when I was a kid neighbors would come to house 10 12 of them. All would take off a head let loose on to the ladies waiting to gut and pluck.. Blood would everywhere for days

Probably depends on the tractor What is the depreciation on an ox? Service depends on who is doing the work, same as an ox, who does the hooves and how often?
And can you use the ox to lift firewood carriers up onto a landing?

Oxen are trimmed by farriers. same as horses.

Getting wood on the landing is simple rope and pully pulled by Oxen or horse.

I know this kind of work is and was done for hundreds of years. Only problem I see is knowledge. All horses take training. And so do Oxen. Takes five years to be able to do any work of signifigance. I know little about training of an Ox. Same goes for horses but they can do light work starting at about three years old. Gotto wait for that mind to come back from being an Ashat.... LOL.

So the answer is No using draft animals is not for the faint of heart or the unwillingness to train. Because no matter what you do with an animal you are training it... good or bad.

I just showed the video because it was an awesome video of what work can be done with Draft PONIES. Those little guys were no more than 14 hands and built like freight trains. I also liked the fact that they were working without blinders. 14 hands equals 4' 8. My girl is 17 hands one inch which is 5' 9" Shes taller than me by two inches at the withers.

Who would want to lift firewood when you could be e.g. riding on a beach, showjumping, dressage, working in the woods (where we started remember) or just looking fabulous?

Dressage in my background. My Dressage trainer taught me how to Train for Driving. I was hooked and never looked back. I wanted to do combined driving but Alas the gear was too expensive. And Fabulous it is....

The vehicle alone can run up to ten grand.

Just make sure you have the drill going the right way! The first time we used one of those, my son had the feathers flying up all over the place and in about 30 seconds, he looked like the 40 lb turkey that he was trying to pluck. I was utterly useless, lying on the ground laughing so hard I thought I was going to die!
