The Old Folks Home

Prayers sent @chickadoodles. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow. If there is any way you can get DH to post an update on how you are doing so we all know that would be great.

Hang in there. It's going to be a tough run but a race you can win. Just take things slow and easy.

@trumpeting_angel, so sorry and deepest condolences on your loss but glad you stopped by to 'see' us old folks.

Welcome new members.

Tomorrow is the big day. 7.6 hours in surgery.
5 days on life support.

the hospital has 101 cases of COVID. 11 on vents. I forget how many in icu. And has signs on the doors to bring your own mask.

I will be in icu for 3 days then moved to a room.
its a bit scary y’all. They won’t let my dh in the hospital at all.
not to mention this is the same hospital that lost my dh and forgot to reconnect his morphine iv after his 2 day back surgery.
:fl

We will see you when you are home and recovered!

Prayers for you and the Family of course

Thank you everyone.

Update: Dr. called, he canceled my surgery. I figured. Since I failed the respiratory test.
He's trying to get me in for a consult with a lung dr. for more tests. Which I still won't be
able to pass. My breathing was bad before this started with my heart in Feb. but it has gotten much worse with the blockage in my pulmonary arteries. So I don't see him doing the surgery.
And when I googled COPD with bypass surgery, it said that my organs would shut down on the ventilator. That the risk is to high. That it would cause my organs to shut down.

Hi everybody - I dropped in because I'm reading about how to integrate new chickens into the flock. Well, "flock" isn't the word, because I only have two left. A bear got my larger Buff Orpington months ago (and we have triple-reinforced the coop). Then yesterday, something (likely a coyote - I had spotted one down the road) took our beloved Callie (Gold-Laced Wyandotte). She was the sweetest and most beautiful chicken.

The two that are left stand around each morning and evening and call her, squawking for almost 20 minutes this morning around 6. So sad. We also had a sudden and tragic death in the family, so things are pretty grim around here.
I am sorry you lost them!

For the new ones, predator proof the coop
Quarantine for two weeks
Use the See not touch integration method-- after the two weeks of quarantine.

Look for the integration article in the learning center

Losing chickens is painful and that pain is exacerbated when you see chickens grieving! I had 2 chickens one was killed by a dog and the other one either good or wanted to come in the house.. She would come up a flight of stairs, learned to open up the mesh we had over the door... And where do you think she laid her egg? Under my bed of course!!I was her only protector. It was hot, stuffy and she panted!
