The Old Folks Home

Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, Osteopenia are more prevalent in small, post menopausal, Caucasian women who are not overweight.

Yep, I was 53 at the time so I was a little insulted at the 'old' reference, but I knew what he was talking about.
Well, that just sux! I started taking red clover after the periods stopped. My ob/gyn did blood work on me yearly and said... Your levels (hormones) are perfect.. keep doing what your doing. Also take black cohash to keep the estrogen levels up. Helps keep bones intact better as you age.

Mine don't creek and pop, but they sure do hurt. This pic is similar to what my toes look like, except the toes next to the big toes have the hammer tow effect going on plus they want to curve over my big toes and my big toes are curved in also.. I wish mine looked this good, LOL.

Ufff, what has been seen can never be unseen!

Any clue as to why?

Same breed, same pen?
No, one D'uccle roo and one Jubilee Orpington different pens and different ages. Maybe respiratory, idk. I closed the windows in the orp coop, and the pop door. Put up plastic over the divider in the coop to try and keep the polish from getting it. Added a heat plate they can use if they want.

Do you know why?

I am sorry you lost them!
Thanks Ron. The pullet really upset me. I had 7, I let them out one day and one disappeared. Now down to 5. I paid a lot for them as chicks from a breeder and had them shipped. Now I am afraid I will lose all of them.

Getting my eyes checked today. Would rather stay home, but my glasses are busted and I am overdue for a checkup.
Being able to see is good :D

I keep getting emails telling me it is time for my yearly eye exam!
Soooo, maybe you should respond to one of them? It isn't like the bazillion email requests for political donations I've been getting ... and deleting without reading them.

We did get our absentee ballots in the mail today. Missouri doesn't require them to be notarized if you are considered to be high risk for Covid 19, which we are.
NOTARIZED???? Hell if that isn't voter suppression I don't know what is. How many people can easily get to a notary? AND many of them CHARGE for the service.

Due to cost I ordered them with long distance only instead of progressive lenses. I am afraid I will hate them.
I suspect so, being able to see properly is a good thing. Not having both eyes focused, especially within depth perception distance, is a NOT a good thing.

Learn something new every day.... and so true! Mom used to razz me about drinking milk and consuming dairy products -- "You know, humans are the only animals to drink milk after weaning," she would chide -- and she was about as big around as my little finger (she worked hard at it) and, well, I'm -- ahem -- amply zaftig. She discovered she had osteoporosis and then was on the regimen of pills that you had to lay down for a half hour or so after taking. What's worse, her advancing Parkinson's made her rather unsteady on her feet and we were always worried that she might break her face or arms with falling. Thinking that genetically I might have the same osteo problem, I scheduled a bone density scan. Nope, mine are thick and solid like cement.

On eyesight: I went to socially distance visit a secluded friend yesterday and drop off some summer squash (Yes, I'm a distributor of zucchini.) She suggested an outside on the patio visit because she hadn't dusted the house. I told her, "I'm not wearing my glasses. The house looks fine and, by the way, you look terrific!" But it was a nice day, so outside anyway.

The seasons are starting to change here in NM. I'm seeing some leaf changes, the mornings are cooler longer, and there aren't as many hummingbirds at the feeder. The ones that do show up are looking rotund, so getting ready for their migration back south.
