The Old Folks Home

I hate getting cortisone shots, but they do usually help. I have had a general one (tushie shot) half a dozen times, they hurt! Twice I got one for my thumb. I have had rheumatoid arthritis since I was 10.
I hope your knee feels better soon!
That sounds painful!

I agree. They burn like fire even with lidocaine mixed with them.

I have serum negative RA and was seeing a rheumatologist until I told my DO that all he was doing for me was zapping me with Methylprednisolone followed by a Toradol chaser. I didn't tolerate the Methotrexate and they stopped that thank goodness. I was tired of losing my hair and tired of being tired.

I'm glad the steroids work but not so glad about what they do to my joints.

@ronott1, are you taking any supplements? If you have regular osteo maybe citrical and vitamin d3? For inflammation something like cherry extract or sour cherry juice. Flax seed oil is anti-inflammatory also.

They had me taking egg shell membrane which is basically extra strength glucosamine chondroitin. I took it for about two years but wasn't noticing much improvement, maybe because I have a rheumatic type of arthritis along with the Osteo. In all truthfulness, I think I got better results from the cherry juice extract.

I do take vit D and the level was good in the labs. I have tried the egg shell and should try it again. I take Magnesium and do have a joint supplement that has glucosamine and calcium in it.

I have to tried cherry extract but did try pomegranate juice. I will likely get some cherry juice soon.
