The Old Folks Home

Morning everyone! 72 here today but only through Sunday and then Indian Summer is officially over. We will take what we can get.

@ronott1, don't forget that exercise is imperative with Osteo. My doctors told me that walking was better and safer than running. Cycling and swimming also good. I walk a lot and would be cycling if we had better roads here.

@CapricornFarm, our dogs chase away whatever shouldn't be here but it's been a couple of years since they actually caught anything. Buck and Spot are 7 now and used to be dynamite when it came to running down rabbits and treeing raccoons and ground hogs. Now they will chase them maybe 50 feet and like all middle aged folks they give up with the attitude of...well, it's just not worth the effort......

With the cattle dogs in the back yard, nothing comes close to the house. I do keep food on the back porch for them needing multiple food bowls around to prevent squabbles over who owns the bowl at the moment. DH asked me what I was going to do if a raccoon found a way over the hot wire in order to dine in style and I told him nothing. If one got in, woe be it for them because they would at least go to raccoon heaven with a full belly.

Our sweet border collie, Lucy who died two years ago would run down and kill any game/predator that she could even at the age of 8. Always a little something extra in the treat dish when she did that but yep, the hunt and kill was reward for her by itself.

And that, old folk is the true story.
I blame Diesel.

One more year to medicare!
5 months for me, I guess I have to figure out what all I need to do.

Special news interruption - my son and his wonderful "fee on say," just called and are going to get married.
Isn't the definition of a fiancee mean they were already engaged? I guess they just hadn't set a date yet?

We are surrounded by people with Maple trees, the dirtiest trees on earth.
I guess you've never seen a cottonwood.

What a good dog! Hope there was a little reward in the food bowl tonight!
None needed, she already had a double helping of possum stew!

It seems that just having dogs at the houses around us keeps the raccoons away.

Hopefully I will be able to walk more and ride the exercise cycle more now
