The Old Folks Home

I have had a Coopers hawk hide in the trees, on low branches, and just hop onto passing chickens to eat them. Supposedly that is how they hunt.
[/QUOT it was flying side ways, belly or underside had a lot of white and some gray. It's that a Cooper's hawk? Those pine trees don't look right but if I try to get through, I get stuck from every which way.

To be honest we started the fencing as a garden none of us could weed so cut a door for chickens to go in and out .. There had been a 4 ft field wire around the property .. Chickens had another 4 ft chicken on top of that for their yard and the original yard gate we put up keeping a labrador out ..
never had birds try to jump out unless the Lab got in

That one is really big! Maybe the bird I saw wasnt a hawk but it sure freaked out the chickens! Shouldn't hawks be migrating by now? There's tons of birds around because of all our bushes and trees. For awhile an owl used to sit there to.
