The Old Folks Home

Gator got up and moved closer to my feet, Prince moved right along with him.. Here his is just about asleep.. I watched as his head kept getting lower and lowerrrrrrrrrr... Didn't get a whole lot of reading done watching the clown show.

We went to the NJ shore twice last year. People socially distanced and masked.

For vacation we went to Chincoteague, Va. for 4 days. Again folks on the beach masked and social distanced by 20', restaurants had outdoor distanced dining, and folks in town were masked.

I was not 100% comfortable in any of these situations. Perhaps next year the 'vaccinated' me will enjoy things more, but we are faced with a new normal.
The SF Bay area has had some of the most restrictions in the Country during covid.

Hopefully they will be relaxed by summer. It would be nice to go to Muir Woods too.

Yup. I'm not big on traveling. Even less so now. Just want to stay here with my dog and chickens.
Same here Sally. We have 29 acres. Pasture, timber, barn, house, shop, chicken coop. We call it our play ground/park. I do feel for people who live in apartments and forced to stay in more. How do they stand it? We always have something to do, some place to do it and as we get older not that thrilled with travel, especially now.

I don't think I've had a chance to say Welcome to the Home to you! Glad you joined us on the porch for some rockin and talkin.

Thanks, @microchick! We have 25 acres, so yup, always something to do. Except for the really cold days; then inside is better. Man, what I would give to go do some weeding right now...! Or turn my compost pile...! But it's all hard as a rock right now.

When Michigan was in lockdown mode, I felt guilty for being able to do what I had been doing all along. Walk my dog. Garden. The new thing was the chicks! What fun.

I was warned about chicken math. I thought, yeah, well, I might want some more someday. OMG. They were right! I saw Blue Australorps here on BYC and I am ga-ga in love with them. So. I have a plan.

Step one: one of my Black Australorps goes broody, and means it.
Step two: TSC has Blue Australorp chicks.
Step three: Said broody raises 3-4 little fluff butts and they integrate seamlessly.

So far, the guy at TSC has said they did have Blues last year and will probably have some more this year. That's as far as the plan has gone yet. :fl :fl

Yeah, that chicken math is wicked. I originally started with 12, then went to 18, then up to almost 40, then Marek's hit and I lost a lot of birds. Then I started hatching barnyard crosses from one of our Amish neighbor's flocks and went back up to 50+, thinned down the flock. Down to 25. Discovered bantams and Fayoumis.......Now I don't count them any longer. I probably have somewhere between 50 and 55 birds. Way too many but I love my roosters and old timers and can't bring myself to butcher and eat them.

So yeah, plans are great but when it comes to chicken math....don't plan to stick with them. :lau

That's better entertainment than any book, or tv show.
