The Old Folks Home

Today Woodland had Freezing Fog! It was 30 degrees with Fog. There was not enough to put crystals on the trees but It did get on the dry grass. While driving to work, the fog cleared and in some places it looked like it had snowed over night!

Fog like that makes you nose crackle too.

She was going to have a Sofia the First party but DH had to fly to Houston for his father's surgery, new heart valves are leaking fluid into his heart. He has surgery this morning and we're hoping they can do something, but the word "transplant" has been said more than once.

Maddy got her first bike. With DH in Houston, DD and I are going to try and put it together ourselves.
My daughter is torn between sofia and frozen. she started ballet 3 weeks ago. i will be going to her first performance March 1

Good luck with the bike - I am sure you can do it. When Toni got her tricycle at 19 months, she told her mom that I was very clever to put it together - i had never felt so like a dad.

Valvular heart disease is so debilitating. I hope they can tune those valves

They put in new valves a few months ago. I think they were from a pig. They've spent most of the week trying to get the fluid out of his heart. The surgery was going to be yesturday, but the Dr. took a day off. :/

Maddy Loves Sofia, we DVR every episode so that we can watch it together. We have yet to see Frozen. Theaters are hard for me because of the close proximity of people in a dark room. (shudder) But we'll rent it as soon as it comes out on Dish. We just saw Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2...loved it! We are watching (again) the first episode of Wallykazam now, then Maddy is off to her speech therapy appt. Her therapist has some birthday goddies waiting, I'm sure. We've also given her a few new games for her Innotab.

Updating some old posts.
My daughter is working her way north through some of the 800 year old Siam empire cities and temples. She stumbled into another Chinese new year festival yesterday. She said she still can't figure out how to say 'thank you' in Thai even with much tutelage. Dinner last night was delicious, cost under $1, said she was stuffed, took leftovers home - she also said she has no idea what she ate. She's been travelling by train and bus and now has a nice garden bungalow with AC for $9. She could have had a fan room for $5 but with tomorrow supposed to be 98 and long days hiking/biking she thought she would splurge. She's been getting around locally by bicycle but she said she'll probably rent a motorcycle soon.
If anyone is interested, after Bangkok she went to Ayutthaya, Thailand and she's now in Sukhothai.
She's been able to call and text via wi-fi at her accommodations. I can even call her St. Louis cell # and reach her without charges (I hope). I'm a tech guy but still can't figure out how that works.
I feeli like I am traveling ---keep the stories coming!!

Quote: I love that I can travel on the internet, or in a book, or PBS shows. Traveling is too stressful and I don't enjoy it. RIght now I have so much to show my kids just in NEw ENgland-- lots of history here, and great points of interest to discuss world politics, geography, customs and language. ( Every place has connections to the world.)

Quote: THis is my kind of trip. Boy Scouts are looking at doing a trip to the Grand Canyon-- THAT is one of 2 places I would like to see in person.

IDK how many of you guys are in the North east but the storms they are a coming.... Found this new weather tool...

( and I don't drink!)

The weather should break on Sunday. Then back up to the +30-40 range. This winter has been a wierd one, one week up then the next cold.
This has been the strangest winter, but then last summer was the strangest summer.

Do you guys think this is too "boy" to be given to a baby girl? The blues have doves, red cardinals and flowers on them.
When I had my first and it was know that a boywas coming-- everything was in blue. Very boring very fast--- life is more than blue or pink.

Lovely quilt!!!!! Well done.

Quote: Praying that the docs can get this resolved and get him back on his feet soon.

I laughed as I read Sophia and Frozen for the 4th time , finally getting it. TOok a few minutes because . . . . well, I have BOYS. My boys just watched AVP-- Aliens vs. Predators, so my mind wasn't ready for Sophis and Frozen. lol THe fighting and drama is perfect for boys-- and worth watching twice, as they just watched it last night!

Snow day to day. Still snowing. About 8-9 inches so far . . . time for boys to get shoveling and for me to get the snow blower running. Gotta love the horses, this is nothing for them. Chickens though . . . . they are still in their coops.
