The Old Folks Home

Yeah... I think they stick these things on automatic or some such?

We get the warnings sometimes too. And it is about as ridiculous (but of course snow storm, not hurricane). Because if you take the time to read the scary capital letters... it is just some snow and wind, like every other Thursday.

It is stupid to warn about normal stuff.... since then when a big storm does blow in, less people will pay attention to the warnings.
Can anyone remember a hurricane season that was going to be average, or less.
Any decision aided by 'computer models' should be laughed at. 'Divining entrails' has as much scientific basis.

I had such a deep feeling of empathy for you when I read your post. I am glad you are able to open up and share on here and find support. Intervals of month long waits between each visit is a long time.. doubts and discouragement try to squeeze into our thoughts so we need those friends!
I know... I'm experiencing a similar problem right now and I believe I've skinned that chicken down to the bones by now! I've waited 2 months for an appointment with a new gastroenterologist that specializes in IBD on July 15.
When your illness doesn't exactly follow the patterns and rules laid out in the Drs text books, Drs sometimes need to 'think outside of the box' (quoting my Dr), but they are not all capable of doing so.
Hence the reason we search for those Drs who graduated at the top of their class. (Look for a Dr who has published research papers on your illness -it shows he has knowledge and puts forth extra effort)
I respect any Dr who can admit that you have a complex case and his knowledge in this particular instance is limited and he is willing to refer you to his colleague who specializes in it.
It doesn't mean he's not a good Dr, he's just doing what he promised to do, give you the best care possible!
Thank you so much, lovesfarm for the understanding and compassionate reply. :hugs It's much appreciated.

I see my PPC on Wednesday. My beliefs are the mark of a truly good doctor is one who knows when it's time to what we used to call 'turf' a patient, sending them to another doctor for whatever reason presents itself in order for them to get the best care available.

I hope everyone had a good Independence Day. We had a nice quiet day. Good food, good weather. No fireworks thanks to the hay curing in the pasture.

It's been interesting today. They came to rake and bale. Guy doing the baling for them is having problems with the baler. DH has been helping them fix it. At one point one of the Amish kids had his hand in the baler....with it running. Yeah, how's that 8th grade education working out for you kid? DH told him to either remove his hand or turn off the baler, we didn't want to have to call for an air ambulance for him and spend the afternoon looking for his missing hand.

So all in all business as usual on the old farm!

We were talking to a fellow HAM who works at a TV station as an engineer. His opinion of weather announcers is can you believe people actually get paid to lie?

@getaclue I'm so sorry to hear about the little dove. You did all you could.

Last year I had a pair of jenny wrens that kept kicking a baby out of the gourd nest they had taken up residency in. I would go out, find it in the flower planter sitting under the gourd house screaming it's brains out, stuff it back in the nest only to find it back in the planter, screaming for attention. I did that a couple more times that day till DH pointed out that maybe baby wasn't falling out of the nest. Maybe it had something wrong with it and mom and dad was giving it the boot. As hard as it sounded, ignore it. If nothing was wrong with it, they would feed it where it was in the flower planter. If not....

Well, yeah, it did and no they didn't. Baby died before the day was out. Some times the hen knows best. Even though it looked healthy and sounded healthy it obviously wasn't.

I hate it when that happens, Sour.

Good morning old folk. Enjoy the summer day. Soon enough it will be over and we will be kvetching about the cold snow and ice.

Nothing on my plate this morning. I did some deep cleaning in our bedroom yesterday. I'll probably do the same in the hobby/family room today.

But till then I'm sitting here sipping hot coffee and wondering how soon the big green boat anchor in the pasture will be up and running again.

DH just went out to see how they were doing. Could you imagine having young Amish guys helping you with electronics?:th
